Pilot road 3/4/5 or Bridgestone T30/31, work from cold and great in the wet.
Pure sports touring tyres, anything more than that on the road is a complete waste of tyre tbh. Even on track the T31 were used on the Haslam race school and no one here is going any faster on the road than RH on track on these tyres.

I had a Contimotion on the rear of the Fazer and it now has a Pirelli Diablo Strada as FWR had a deal on it and cheap as chips.
On the Ducati I use Pirelli Angel GT2. Good wet grip and enough grip for trackday use in my hands and last about 6000 miles with the way I ride.
As for S22 I would have said more of a sports tyre than a sport touring tyre

I've been reading the reviews of the S22, Jezza McWilliams can get his knee down on them in the wet and he's tiny so has to lean a long way!

Pilot Road 5's on the ZH2, much better in greasey conditions than the Pirellis it came with and seem to be lasting well.

They’re fantastic in the wet and cold, heat up real quick and have good life. I’ve used them in all conditions on the road and also a few track days between 3 bikes, 1299s, S1000rr and GSXR 1000.
I started off with the Rosso 3 and couldn’t fault them, I then just for the sake of it tried the S22 because the wife went with the Rosso 3’s on her bike and I’ve kept using the S22’s. Only downside with them on track is they do move around a lot but that’s to be expected, but saves the hassle of sapping wheels or tyres just for a track day.

You can tell how good they’ll be just from touching them at ambient temps, nice and soft with a harder compound in the centre for longevity.

I love S22 as a road and occasional track tyre, but if no track use is needed and for all year round use touring tyres are better, they last longer too. Been using conti road attack 3 for the last 8 months.
Once I sorted out the running pressures to suit my riding style, awesome tyres.
Was out dragging the knee today in 12c temps and still got 5mm left after 3k hard miles.

If it was track only then then for me the S22 wouldn’t cut it, for the road and occasional track day then yeah they’re fine. Going by last year I’ll probably be doing two track days which is fine for the S22.

I always thought there's only two sorts of tyres. One's that work in the wet and ones that work in the wet.

I've tried a couple of sets of new Michelins but they've felt vague compared to Pilot Power 2cts, so I always go back.
I haven't found anything better than PP2cts. Not sure what that says about my riding!

That's my concern too. Once I find a tyre that works well for me,it makes me reluctant to try anything else. Don't fix what isn't broken.
I absolutely hate finding out I dislike a set of newly fitted tyres and then they seem to last forever! It happened me with a BT 014 years ago,what an awful tyre,it put me right off Bridgestone ever since.

Hard to say Skub as tyres are really personal things due to how they make you feel. For me I've had PR3, 4 and 5 and they've all been awesome on the road. They have the 'feel' that I first got from Mich Pilot Powers years ago but last a lot longer. I believe the PR4's and 5's have an updated shoulder compound from the PP2CT and you can actually see visually the difference in compound from soft/hard. In this pic you can see the outer 3rds are a different colour to the middle.
In comparison the Dunlop D214 the GSXS has just come with feel like concrete when giving it the thumb test in the garage. Doing the same with the PR4/5's you could feel the rubber squidge. Before they were fitted you could also easily move the carcass of the tyre about as well which you couldn't on a set of BT023's the tyre guy had in the van as well. They were much stiffer.

Watch those tyres. I found they gripped ok when it was warm and dry,but wet or damp patches made the bike very nervy. I binned them before they were done. PPs were like a night and day difference,total confidence.

Yeah will be careful on them esp in spring hoping they'll be good enough for a year at most and then I'll replace them. But yeah even feeling them in the garage made me apprehensive. If they are terrible I'll bin them but hoping they'll do for run in and then first summer.

I didn't find them terrible or unsafe,as I only used the bike on good days,but being caught in the odd shower wasn't confidence inspiring.
