Tyres for 27.5+ wheels
Simple question, can I run 2.8 x 27.5 tyres on a 27.5+ rim or is internal width going to be an issue? Chain Reaction isn't blessed with choice on 27.5+ tyres.

Re: Tyres for 27.5+ wheels
Why wouldn't you be able to ? What size is on there currently ? I can't see why a 2.8 won't fit fine.Beancounter wrote: ↑Mon Aug 03, 2020 10:12 am Simple question, can I run 2.8 x 27.5 tyres on a 27.5+ rim or is internal width going to be an issue? Re: Tyres for 27.5+ wheels
Yeah i didn't think they looked crazy big, so that'd make sense.
I'd say a 2.6 or a 2.8 will be fine... You'd arguably get away with a 2.5 without any worries too.

Mr Counter,
`i have a couple of 27.5+ tyres you could probably have. I tried ruining the Flare Max as a mullet and particularly hated the 2.8 - which I think is a maxis high roller ( it is mounted in the wheel at the moment - so I will go and check).
I may keep the Bontrager 2.6 but let you know later on today.
Yours for free ...if you want it

I can very highly recommend the Michelin e-wild in 2.8.
The grip is brill in all conditions and the carcass is quite rigid so you'd be really unlucky to rip a chunk out of the sidewall again.

Thanks, if you're not happy with the Maxxis I'll happily take it from you for a fair price.Mr Moofo wrote: ↑Mon Aug 03, 2020 11:47 am Mr Counter,

No particular rush as I've got Taff's part worn Nobby Nic on there just now and the bike needs some fettling before going out again.
I've never tried Maxxis or Schwalbe, I normally stick to WTB Vigilante, so this could be a wee voyage of discovery.

Re: Tyres for 27.5+ wheels
I have the e-wild on the rear of my bike, they are really good grip wise, but mine seem to be wearing very quickly?
Re: Tyres for 27.5+ wheels
I suppose it's inevitable on an eMTB. what sort of milage are you on?
At a guess Mine have done about 500 miles and the rear is showing sign of wear but has at least another 500 miles I expect. The front is showing virtually no signs of wear at all.

Re: Tyres for 27.5+ wheels
I've probably only done a couple of hundred miles on them, I've got plenty of tread left but the middle is wearing pretty quickly, probably because i'm a fat bas***d mind you
I think i'd be happy to get more when these wear out though, they're a very competitive price as well.
