Yorick wrote: Sun Jan 30, 2022 10:35 am Right now aching like buggery. Everywhere.
Yesterday was first enduro ride in 5 weeks and I'd got out of condition :(

Especially left hand and forearm as that arm has been rested for last month.
Gonna get back out in the garage and hit the weights. Swimming usually keeps my arms strong but can't swim for at least a month :(
Just start wanking with the left.

I swim, 3 days a week and competitively, doesn't do much good for the rotator cuff though. Otherwise I would be swimming 5 days a week.

Nice Bbq mate. Looks good.

Right now I've sitting watching a private ambulance make many many many futile attempts to get up the ramp by my building - he's just done it!! Attempt (probably) 10 or 12!!!

Seriously weird, WTF doesn't he have winter tyres on? With those he'd have been up the ramp just fine!!!

Kinda random as, no blues, so not an emergency. So why not just park at the bottom and walk up??!!! LOL

It's definitely entertaining here!! LOL

Just had a call from Mrs. G., who dropped my old SLK in for its MOT...

'The garage called to say it's failed and they've recommended that it's not driven anywhere. Something track-y broken at the front'

I can only assume it's the track rod. Odd as it's not been anywhere for the last two years. :o

I've been looking into the cost of live in carers as respite for my wonderful self. The cost to replace me is £1295 per week. I've done the maths with my brother (my only other sibling) and going away on trips is doable :D

We've been looking for mil. The issue we have is that care homes take the (understandable) option of nappies and such rather than getting her up for the toilet during the night. Add into that that most respite homes do one month minimum and sometimes it just ain't workable.

I wish you luck whatever you find, as we have found it a bloody minefield.

Have you looked into live in, respite care? It seems better value for money and more flexible. My Mum went into a respite care home in June 2021 and it was an awful experience for her. I couldn't visit her (covid rules) which made it worse as I knew only what she told me and couldn't see for myself. It was supposed to be for three months, but we lasted one. It was still beneficial in the long run as it gave me and the family time to think - we came up with some adaptations to her bungalow which were obvious once we'd chilled out and taken a few deep breaths.

Is she assessed as in palliative care? You maybe able to get ccg funding for a night sitter or Marie cure might step in if prompted by district nurses? Also look into hospice at home but best to duscusss her palliative care with her GP, which you probably have, but I found it was only when I asked for help it was actually forthcoming.

Academic now mind, as I arrived at step mothers this morning to find she has passed peacefully in the night. Just waiting on her GP to arrive and confirm in case it’s some sort of deep coma? I’m pleased she’s passed though. Bloody awful to see a human left like that!

Sorry to hear that Taipan, but it is often a blessing when a loved one is suffering.

My right now? Garage build has been signed off by building control, so we can now start getting it in use!

I'm currently sat in A+E having injured my right knee on Saturday night with a ill-judged attempt at limbo dancing.
