Last Night's DVD
Tonight I watched "The Last Full Measure"
Moving story about a hero in Vietnam in 1966 who gave his life to save others. The story is about his pals to get the medal he deserved for his parents
I'm not ashamed to say I watched the last few minutes with tears running down my face

Alita: Battle Angel

Very odd graphically, but pretty enjoyable young persons sci-fi.
Le chant du loup
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0437086/
French anti nuclear deterrent click in submarines, a decent 'war' film.

Bad boys for life

Ok so it has my bike in it :ugeek: and it's the usual silly ott mindless violence we've come to expect, but Ragnor must be rolling in his grave.

Re: Last Night's DVD
Just watched 'Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri', on All4 the C4 catch up service (it's on for a few more hours if you've not seen it).
I'm emotionally drained.
It's funny and depressing in equal amounts, but utterly brilliant.

Ad Astra

Truly dire
Midway

Not a patch on the 1976 version, but not bad way to spend a rainy afternoon

The Way - Martin Sheen and Emilio estevez. An American father travels to France to retrieve the body of his estranged son, who died while attempting the pilgrimage to Spain's Santiago de Compostela. He resolves to take the journey himself, in an effort to understand both himself and his son. Enjoyed it.
A Walk in the Woods. Robert Redford and Nick Nolte. Redford plays Bill Bryson and he walks The Appalachian Trail with Nick Nolte. Similar vein to the above but nowhere near as good.
Dating Amber. More like a TV film but funnny in the way only an Irish film can be.
The Perfect Fantastic. Good ratings but turned out to be crap. Endured it because I thought the wife was enjoying it. turned out she did the same. D'oh!

Rampage - Dwayne the rock. It was as bad as you'd expect. But my lad loves this sort of stuff so we watched it.

I was curious, so watched it as well. It was confusing but even at the end, I still had to Google...

I didn't hear or see any reference in the film to cloning, so would never have got it.

Re: Last Night's DVD
I've been binge-watching Line of Duty on Netflix.
How did I miss this? In to series four ATM and it's brilliant. Excellent performances from Lennie James in series one, and Keeley Hawes in 2 & 3.

All aboard the Peckham Pigeon! All aboard!

Lifeforce - Space vampires come to earth and all sorts of stuff happens. A cult classic, but got kind of boring once the hot lady vampire changed to a not so hot lady vampire and started wearing clothes.
Rambo Last Blood - Shambling old man Rambo digs tunnels on his farm and then goes off to Mexico to rescue his 'daughter' from slavers. Pretty much the same as Taken, but with far less plot and an incompetent hero. There's a lot of kills, in the final fight, which the audience seem to want, but I found the whole thing a tad boring and anti-climactic. They should have just left it with the previous movie, which provided a far better ending for the character.
Sea Fever - An Irish fishing boat puts to sea, the crew decides to chuck out the nets in a restricted area and ends up with more than they bargained for. I'd herd good things about this horror, but really it wasn't very scary or horrific, nor was there much tension in there either. I don't really know what his movie was, a mixture of the Thing without the head spiders and chest mouths, The Abyss without the Navy Seal plot and Alien without the alien. IT was 90 minutes long, but a long 90 minutes

Aha. Did wonder about the hats. Way too subtle for meinewham wrote: ↑Wed Jul 29, 2020 5:25 pmThe clue is when Hugh Jackman he finds a pile of hats outside with another cat with its chain still attached (Andy Serkis took the chain off when it left the machine). Everyone thought the machine didn't work because the hat didn't disappear, that's because it was being cloned each time the machine was tested.

Holy Motors. Very odd item; talking cars, Kylie Minogue and more stretch limos than you can shake a stick at. May have to watch it again to make sense of it.

'Dark Waters', based on a true story of a solicitor taking on the Dupont chemical company, due to them dumping chemical waste in a local river. Thus causing all sorts of nastiness for the poor town folk.
Stars Mark Ruffalo and Tim Robbins, and the film is well worth watching.

We're working through Schitt's Creek. Surprisingly funny, wonder if they can keep it up for 6 seasons though.

Currently halfway through 'Inhuman Resources' on Netflix. Hostage drama, Eric Cantona gives a great impression of the desperation an older man out of work driven to extremes, with some plot twists hinted-at still to play out.
