COVID and pets?????
Do you think dogs would 'carry' the virus between humans?
I'm having a 'moment' cos I went to see a friend who is positive yesterday. Properly distanced and masked and outside
But his dog rushed over to say hello and I fussed her for a bit. He did say "she's covid'd up" but I didn't really take it seriously.
But, this "moment" is - is that likely?? I mean, that she can transfer the virus between me and my friend?

As you can catch it off door handles etc, then possibly off the warm snout of a hound, I'd say a resounding yes.

The CDC reckon the risk is low;

Re: COVID and pets?????
It sounds like lots of animals can get Covid, some are reservoirs for it (deer, mink) and a few have given it back to humans. Pets have caught it from owners and 17% of cats and dogs tested had antibodies. However, I don't think it has been proven that anyone has caught it from a pet - so it's unlikely given how many there are.
The fur can carry it, but it's probably not a great surface for spreading it. It's mentioned that the infected owner should keep away from the pet, wear a mask, wash their hands etc.
So I wouldn't worry. If I thought I'd been exposed to Covid from a person I would take some Berocca + Vitamin D, Vicks First Defence nose spray, get a good rest and use a lateral flow test.

It's more the risk of passing it on. I'm triple jabbed and double covid'd!! (The last time about 5-6 weeks ago). So not overly worried for me. Just don't want to be a carrier!!!
However, a load of people in resort have tested positive recently. Luckily I've been spectacularly anti-social and am currently testing negative!!
Cross fingers it stays that way!!!

They were saying cats can pass it on when Covid first hit then there is two Hippos in a Belgian Zoo what caught it also probably dogs and a lot of other animals also.

Thanked you cos it seems that unlike some people you actually give a crap about not being a carrier and endangering others.

Re: COVID and pets?????
Thank you. I do. And not particularly because I think people (in general) that I meet will be really ill from it. Everyone is triple jabbed, most are reasonably sure they had a form of it just before we all shut down (no testing back then so we can't be sure)demographic wrote: ↑Sat Dec 25, 2021 5:29 pm

But, its the effects of testing positive even if the symptoms aren't bad. I'm so so angry for my friend that couldn't go home to his family for Christmas, so I'd be devastated if I'd been that person who passed it on.
I realise that, since I've never had any proper symptoms from it, I am unlikely to know if I'm a carrier. So I just have to try to be careful.

Shoggoths are carriers, but if you are regularly getting close to one, then you may have greater problems than Covid.
