Well, I did it. Trip to Slovenia, Croatia and Bosnia booked, deposit paid. 24 hours later Boris announces start of new Omicron restrictions, so please cross fingers, toes, legs, etc that it will all be back to BAU by September 2022.
All I have to do now is work out what I need to bolt to the baby Honda to carry some luggage with me.

A few Wales trips - one early spring, one in May, two in July. I'd like to get to Yorkshire as I've not been for a few years.

I reckon it'll be reet. Besides, we have to get on with life, there's only so long everything can be put on hold. Fuck all that corona bollocks.Cousin Jack wrote: ↑Thu Dec 09, 2021 7:48 pm Well, I did it. That's the problem. Our bookings could all go tits up. It's difficult to know what's best.

It could indeed, only 48 hours after I booked Boris announced the next official panic. However if I wait for everything to settle down I may die of old age first, so I shall just hope that it can all go ahead.Dodgy knees wrote: ↑Tue Dec 14, 2021 3:29 pm

Re: 2022 adventures, trips, tours?
I'm signed up for the 'Nick Sanders Experience' in Wales in July, with one of my riding groups: https://www.nicksanders.com/expedition-centre
Apparently Nick will give a presentation or two about his trips, and lead a rideout. Looking forward to that.
Apart from that it will probably be my usual collection of navigational rallies, if they happen, plus group day and half day rides. I might stretch myself a bit on the rallies and go for a gold award or two instead of my usual sedate bronze or sometimes silver.

Hoping to get to France for a week at some point, but mostly just going to be riding around getting used to regular riding again.

I reckon I'll do the Distinguished Gentleman's Ride this year. I've just been looking, I didn't realise they were so tight on the entry requirements...I assumed you could ride it on any bike and they just shuffled all the full hipsters to the front for the pics. Not so!
Still...I'm some of the way there with the classic bike part of it. I've got my FiLs old Revitts jacket too so I just need a few other costume bits

I wouldn't mind doing a long weekend in Yorkshire or thereabouts. Looks like some nice scenery and roads when we did Harrogate and York late last year.

Having seen t'locals I can see why they might be unnerved by a handsome, rugged, wind-swept and mysterious stranger entering their lands like some kind of legendary god returning to save them from chips, cheese and gravy dinners served with brown, flat, flavourless beer.

If you manage to get a visa, I could maybe direct you round the Yorickshire Dalesgremlin wrote: ↑Mon Jan 17, 2022 11:36 amHaving seen t'locals I can see why they might be unnerved by a handsome, rugged, wind-swept and mysterious stranger entering their lands like some kind of legendary god returning to save them from chips, cheese and gravy dinners served with brown, flat, flavourless beer.

Well considering I don't really have the bike for going that far, I'd like to just ride in new places in the UK. Potential trip back to NI for a few days, over on the ferry.

Strap a waterproof rollbag on the pillion seat, you can go anywhere.

Re: 2022 adventures, trips, tours?
Any reliable bike will tour. Small bikes just take a little longer (and the difference is probably less than you think). I am planning a 4000 mile tour on a 500cc 'street bike'.

Re: 2022 adventures, trips, tours?
Feelers are out for a job from when the winter ends (and full on applications!), so if one of those works out and I have a full time job from May/June - November my plans are:
Back to the UK in August for the Manx GP/catch up with friends in the uk and IoM/stay on for the RTTL TD at Pembrey
I've sort of promised @God that I'll ride to Croatia and take him some proper bacon (I can get it here, he can't get it there!)
Got friends in Nice, so the Route de Napoleon is on the list of local (well, French) stuff
There are a load of local roads I haven't been on & mountain cols I haven't been over. Hopefully once I start riding here, I'll meet like minded loonies (ideally not all with those big long cruiser bikes, cos most of the roads have hairpins in them!). So - LOTS of roads to explore in the Savoie area!!
I do want to do a trackday here, ideally before August/September. But that will depend on finding someone to go with me!! LOL Not sure I won't to do the first TD both on my own and with briefings in a language I'm not fully fluent in!! LOL)
No idea how much of that will happen, but cross fingers!

Life is for living. Buy the shoes. Eat the cake. Ride the bikes. Just, ride the bikes!!
Re: 2022 adventures, trips, tours?
I do. But it has zero provisions for carrying anything. I'm looking to buy a decent backpack that would allow me to at least take a change of clothes with me.
