Blowing a hooley here, been out chasing the contents of my recycling bin in 70mph winds.
Kitchen to be fitted today too, that'll be interesting.
I expect even with 70mph winds you'll get a lot more done than me today. Old worktop is out and now procrastinating before clearing a cutting area in the garageSkub wrote: Tue Dec 07, 2021 8:56 am Storm Barra is in the house.![]()

That sinking,'wtf did I start this' feeling.Mussels wrote: Tue Dec 07, 2021 1:18 pm I didn't get far.
Neither the kitchen worktop router bit set nor the kitchen worktop jig came with the 30mm router bush needed. I found the bush for an extortionate amount of money but my router base takes through bolts rather than threaded screws the bush comes with, then I noticed my router is 1/4" and won't take the 1/2" bits. So I now need to find a 1/2" router and 30mm bush and I really wish I'd noticed this before I removed the old worktop.
So they can stress test and troubleshoot all the electrical appliances on Christmas Day - when it's most convenient.
After much hunting I found a router with the bush included in Toolstation nearby. The total cost of the tools is probably nearly as much as it would have been to get a man in, my man card will be more impressive for it.Skub wrote: Tue Dec 07, 2021 1:53 pmThat sinking,'wtf did I start this' feeling.Mussels wrote: Tue Dec 07, 2021 1:18 pm I didn't get far.

Stress tested our stress levels tonight! After an hour of manual reading and internetting, we found out our saucepans don't work on the induction hob!Count Steer wrote: Tue Dec 07, 2021 1:56 pmSo they can stress test and troubleshoot all the electrical appliances on Christmas Day - when it's most convenient.![]()

(Good job you checked though!).
TBH I find cast iron is good if you're doing casserole type things on the hob but stainless better for a lot of things and coated aluminium (not on induction) better for some things. That's all on gas though. Induction is sorcery like microwaves.Taipan wrote: Tue Dec 07, 2021 7:12 pmI wasn't expecting such sorcery from kitchen appliances!Count Steer wrote: Tue Dec 07, 2021 7:00 pmAre they nice saucepans and are they now available at a bargain price s/h?Taipan wrote: Tue Dec 07, 2021 6:41 pm

(Good job you checked though!).On the plus side, they did need updating really. Although, having just got a quote from the tiler, we're getting Tower Cerasure and not Le Crueset or suchlike!

Hey....no parties!gremlin wrote: Wed Dec 08, 2021 3:39 pm Just sat after getting my covid booster. The nurse who checked me in had a thick Southern States accent. We had some banter and I cracked that line from Ted, 'I could sleep on a pillow made of your voice'. I took a guess and said to her, 'Is that accent from Louisiana?'
She looked at me, head cocked to one side, and asked, 'How the hell you know dat? Nobody ever guesses it right!'
We had a proper good laugh, she even threatened to take me home to the Big Easy to meet the family and eat good 'ol soul food.
Everyone was nice. I've had a bit of a party here.![]()
