Sat 1st Aug, FoD, bring the fun
Giving it a topic of it's own, but Taff is arranging a day out at the Forest of Dean on Sat 1st.
Lots of fun to be had round there that's for sure !!!
So, who's coming playing ?

Yep, I should be there. Not sure I'll be doing any drops or jumps, haven't had the balls to attempt any since going to Jedi with Crust.

Thanks for starting the thread weeksy
post from the other thread....

meeting point will be in Parkend, just down the road from the Fountain Inn and riding will be on 'Dowies' and 'Shutcastle' trails. (search Youtube for a flavour)
I've picked this area because the trails are fun and very confidence inspiring, almost everything is rollable if you don't want to jump / drop, nothing is mega steep but you can expect to be doing a fair bit of climbing.
we won't be going to Pedalabikeaway trail centre (unless anyone really really wants to) so it's best to plan to be self sufficient for the day, and I can ask the landlord of the Fountain Inn what they are currently doing in the way of food.
If anyone wants to then go on to do some more technical trails we can head over to 'Mallards Pike' afterwards, this is generally steeper and more technical, not everything is rollable (most is) but still very rideable, expect a load of climbing.

Re: Sat 1st Aug, FoD, bring the fun
That looks fairly steep and gnarly. In fact there doesn't look to be much of a trail.
Re: Sat 1st Aug, FoD, bring the fun
remember, if it looks steep in the video, irl it is very very Feckin steep.
I've gone down that rocky down hill trials section once, I didn't get far before I bottled it and decided that the pain of a tumble onto rocks wasn't worth the risk. I'd like to say that I walked down, but bouldering is a closer description.
we will not be doing anything like that on the 1st unless you really want to in which case I'll lead you to the top of the trail and meet you at the bottom.

I'm think I'd be joining you at the bottom of the trail, using your route.Taff wrote: ↑Thu Jul 16, 2020 4:11 pmremember, if it looks steep in the video, irl it is very very Feckin steep.Beancounter wrote: ↑Thu Jul 16, 2020 3:12 pmThat looks fairly steep and gnarly. That rocky descent is called 'Don't Dab....Ride it clean' in Trailforks with 61m descent over the 254m of trail, feckin steep.
The routes that we will be riding have been chosen so that they are suitable for the kids that'll be there (and the scared adults that can't bare to keep up with the kids )
As I said earlier, If anyone wants more steep stuff we can go to that afterwards
