It's bloody everywhere. I've been told to cut my salt intake right down.
So that rules out the obvious stuff and gonna start cooking from fresh.
But there's so many foods that you don't imagine salt to be a danger.

Finding lots of info on Google.

Main surprise to me is cheese. Especially blue cheese which I love. It's about 1.4 g of salt per 100gm

Even tinned tuna. Got some John West stuff. Bloody whole gram per small 100 gm tin.
Bread is now out.
Even too much salt in Cheerios.

But no salt in beer ;)
I hate salt. Spoils a meal for me. Never had it growing up and just don't have taste for it.

Do you not have traffic light labelling on food over there?
It's the hidden stuff problem. I never put any on food.

The cheese and tuna are both UK stuff :obscene-birdiedoublered:
Tuna in sunflower or olive oil will be much lower in salt (than tuna in brine).

Usually, the harder the cheese the higher the salt iirc, 'cos they lose moisture as they age so the % goes up. So Manchego is probably quite high.

Drain it, rinse it, drain it.....add a bit of oil. Most of the salt will go down the drain. Although it says no drain. Hmmm.

Just looking at their website;
Tuna in brine = salt @ 1g per 100g
Tuna in oil = salt @ 1g per 100g

Sainsbugs have their low salt version in spring water @ 0.5g per 100g

You're better off sticking to raw tuna steaks from the smelly fish man

Just checked ours in olive oil (M&S), 0.6gm/100gm it seems the sodium in fresh tuna is about half that in canned as well. On the  side it appears that the omega-3 in fatty fish like tuna is good for reducing blood pressure so win some/lose some. (You do need some salt in the diet too).

What pisses me off is the amount of animal gelatine hidden in sweets...i love liqorice, but only the expensive ones seem vegetarian, and that isn't a given...so i reads the labels too.

My last post here was about Tesco, so's this one......

A few weeks ago, I grabbed a few bits including some beers while on my way home, I used the self checkout till. After I've paid, the checkout asks if I want my receipt. I select no, as I've no need for it.
As I went to leave the attendant asked to see my receipt

Me "I don't have one"
Her "you have to get a receipt when you buy alcohol"
Me "So why does the till give me an option to not have the receipt if I have to have it?"
Her "you have to have it when you have alcohol"

At this point I lost the will to argue/live so I went with her to the till where she reprinted my receipt, checked it and let me on my way.

A couple nights ago, I grabbed 3 items for dinner, I used the self check out again and when asked if I wanted my receipt, I select no, because I don't have any alcohol. As I leave I am once again accosted by a Tesco staff member (not the same one!)

Her "Are you paying cash or card?"
Me "I've already paid thanks"
Her "Where's you receipt?"
Me "I opted not to print it"
Her "you have to have a receipt"
Me "so why does the machine give me an option not to have one"
Her " How else do we know you've paid"
Me "why does the machine give me an option not to have one"
Her "I don't know"

In better news I've discovered Morrisons is easier, they discount heavily at about 17:30 and the self checkout attendant hasn't accosted me yet!

They feel compelled to pay lip service to the 'green save paper thing',when as exemplified by this case,it's of no practical use.

Do you have a suspicious look? What do you wear? What's your general demeanour? Are you particularly good looking or ugly?

I got ID' for buying filter tips once. I was 41. Danced all the way to work and continued dancing all day - in your face - 41.

Edit: I say ID'd but I mean asked my age. It's the only time I've ever been challenged.

I never, ever get through a leg of a ferry trip without a minimum of 2 'stops', (my personal record is 4 stops, 3 of which were searches and one was just questions).
I have long hair, a beard, I'm alone and I drive a campervan. Fuck it, if I was them I'd bloody stop me!
