Re: 2021, riding mileage and updates
Still feeling the effects of Wednesdays beasting. Me and the Boy Blunder did 21 dreary miles around the Downs this morning. At least he’s tired for a change https://strava.app.link/pn5JjrFCbkb

Re: 2021, riding mileage and updates
So this thread is about bikes with no engines Weeksy??
I was thinking 21miles is a pretty p-ss poor effort. I ride more than that going to work and back, but on a bike without an engine, that's a bloody marathon!!
You buggers must be fit.

Third ride in as many days so rather slow and a twinge in my right knee.

Re: 2021, riding mileage and updates
Went out yesterday, the mud is arriving. It's hammered down last night and is due to rain all day and tonights night ride may well be biblical (and short, as in straight to the pub).

Loads of sea swims before the “fun police” arrive with their flags and some awesome walking.

Re: 2021, riding mileage and updates
We've been up in Snowdonia for the last week and I managed to get out for a couple of rides in between the walking.
MiniTaff dislocated his knee last week so he wasn't fit to ride so I landed up riding solo.
First up was Gwydir Mawr, formally known as the Marin trail, it's about 15 miles and has quite a lot of forest road, so much so that I was getting a bit miffed with it but when you get back into the single track it is really quite spectacular. Definitely one that I'd like to ride again.
Next up was Penmachno. 12 miles of absolutely fantastic single-track, mostly narrow with a threat of rolling down the hill of you get it wrong. I felt that I had to be very accurate all the way. This was great, but.... Water, it was like riding through a stream for mile after mile and just as I was getting confident that the puddles are not really that deep I lost my front wheel completely underwater. That really made me grumpy.
I got back to the cafe soaked through and pretty cold but a giant fish finger sandwich sorted that out .
I need to go back and do that again, but not when the place is flooded

Re: 2021, riding mileage and updates
Fun morning at Swinley today followed by lots of race chats with the boy.
Just trying to work out if the finances are there for an uplift for him the day before the race. Be good to get him out practicing the day before

Re: 2021, riding mileage and updates
Epic day at Afan today. Did YWal followed by blue scar. Due to me having ridden the trail more than the rest, I was designated trail leader, which I really enjoyed. Trying to keep the wolves at bay went pretty well too, only on one of the Blue Scar sections did I have anyone hanging onto my wheel. Lots of up, lots of down.
Curry, hotel and bpw tomorrow morning. Eeek

Another cracking ride on the Sarf Dahns, a bit brisk and cold toes by the end.
