Did via the Meerkat people, it spat out Bennetts as being the best, underwriters are AXA.

I'm not 100% sure about the Ks, but on the 1100/1150 series R bikes, the Motronic doesn't really respond that well to Booster plugs. Because they tend to adjust 1 particular setting to a fixed value, the Motronic tends to 'work-around' that one setting in order to bring the bike back to whatever map it's following. The Motronic is a 'closed-loop' system that monitors the output of the engine (exhaust gases), and readjusts the fuelling to bring that output back it's mapped setting.

If you want to change the way the engine runs, you need to get it properly remapped, rather than trying to mess with 1 input setting.

The Ks might be more intelligent than that (depends on what the booster plug is trying to do), but it might not. I never investigated it.
I'm convinced they re-learn quick, mine spat it's baffle out whilst "making progress" and the thing is running like a Swiss watch apart from the odd crackle on overrun.

The only time it's not great is about half a mile into the journey from cold, when it's not stone cold but not warmed up.

Waiting for nice weather to take the bike out for a longer run. I did have a fairly quick blat on local roads a couple of days ago, but most of it was sedate which is just as well as I was tailed by a police biker for a while...

Bought SW Motech rack and adapter plate for £39 off eBay. Ordered spacers and countersunk M6 bolts which will arrive tomorrow. Now the hunt for a nice Givi topbox to finish it off. Does not need to be massive, but does need to take a lid + bits.

Rack and plate fitted. Really easy and used spacers to get a nice height on it. Topbox hunting now.

And it has gone. Sold as I am not riding much, 1200 miles in 14months. Pathetic amount... I'll find something to replace it at some point, NCB's are safe for a couple of years and then I'll get something. Maybe tomorrow, maybe in two years. Just needs to be "it"....

Any thing that gives me a smile, a fun time on the road is all I need. At the moment, all my riding is very local, so I'm just not using the bike for its intended purpose. I am not going to do touring for a bit because I have other commitments, so a 125 would tick every box to be honest. Not going to worry about it at the moment, I'll see what shows up locally and take it from there.

The twin-spark 1150 series (post about 2002/3 IIRC) ARE ULEZ compliant, you can get a letter from BMW that states the CO output and can provide that to TFL and get the bike registered on their systems as compliant. I've done it but ironically never taken the Rockster into the ULEZ since!


It's a bit of a cheat because obviously a 18 year-old bike is NOT going to be putting out the same levels of CO that it would have done when built, but that's the system. ;)

You need a weekend yes, but it's surprisingly simple - everything just bolts together so you can just undo bolts, get in there and get out and do it all up again. Maybe I was luck with mine when I did it, but I didn't get any issues afterwards and I wasn't even that careful about lining everything back up.

It does LOOK like a horrendous job though... :D
