It's not got a steel box section swingarm. It might be steel (I've no idea), but it's not plain box section.

Nothing screams cheap on a bike like a box section swingarm. It's the one thing I really didn't like about my NC700X and next-doors GSR750.

The Taylormade one looks ok. They come with a bit of trim that lines up with the belly pan.

In my naiveté I believed the addition of the aforementioned swinger would make the Z1 into a racer. I think it was actually worse because everything still flexed around the headstock anyway. I had my biggest crash with that setup.

Z1s are pretty flexy, there are kits to brace the frame that have plates to weld all around the steering head and spine, I'll have to see if I can find a picture of the Yoshmura race bike frame, Kawasaki copied the bracing for their Mk2 race bike, and the Z1000J production frame gets a lot of the bracing, but sadly not all of it. GS1000 handles a lot better than the Kawasaki, the Suzuki manages to keep keep everything going in the same direction.

The Z1000J was double bendy. I remember when it came out, us LCs used to hurtle past them down the back straight at Carnaby. We could take the chicane flat in 5th, while they had to get off and push it through

The J is a lot less bendy than the previous Zs, but it's still a big bike, with the weight in the wrong place, a weedy swing arm and a huge gap between the gearbox sprocket and the swing arm pivot, an LC is light weight race bike by comparison, and a tuned 350 is probably as quick in a straight line.

The big J used to catch up at end of straight, but we'd just outbrake it
