Vague recollection that I bought tyres from John Cooper's garage in Derby and would see him riding with a red helmet with the moon eyes on in the late 90s. I could have been heavily mistaken though.

For me it was the early sun and moon rossi helmet, still have it in my loft. Been thinking of getting it on display.

Edit: Wikipedia suggests I'm not mistaken :wtf:

S'funny. Apart from the obvious Cooper and Joey helmets, I'd not have recognised any of them. Maybe Walker's at a push.

I always liked the Scott Russell feathers design when he was in WSB. Never really changed it over the years

I have to go with the helmet used by Iain Duffus though with its Saltire flag design...... I ended up with the same design on a plain Shoei i had painted and then on the factory paint job done by Arai. Still have it and have thought about having a Tour X4 painted up in the same colours. I remember seeing him with that design at Knockhill in the mid to late 80's and deciding that was what i wanted on my helmets

Wife has this what i think is an Early Rossie. When she did have a bike it was never used as she never wanted to scrape it. Now its bouncing about up the attic

Both theirs are straight line flag patterns whereas Duffus was a wavy flag pattern

Plus Duffus had it before either of them as DC was still karting as a kid while Duffus was racing Scottish Championship ;)

Rossis flowery lid was one I liked.

Not keen on the flag ones, or the flames.

...and he beat Ago at Mallory :)

There's a group of Japanese riders who all have eye's on their lids like Nakano's, it's something to do with them all coming from the same race school or something.
My dad painted Moon eyes on his first ever lid cos of John Cooper.

Interesting how few of the current crop of helmets we're seeing... is that because they change them every year ? Or are they just not nice?

There's Hayden for example for the US contingent.

I like some of the Marquez helmets too

but things like the Fabio Quatararo helmet leave me cold.

But as we know, a lot of it comes down to branding and advertising now sadly like Topraks.

Very few simple lids out there now and even less that don't have Monster or Red Bull featuring heavily.

And remember, there's nothing as nostalgic as Nostalgia
