Got a letter from HSBC today, they're cutting my savings rate again. It was already 0.01%

Fuck you HSBC, says I. I'm off to find some better acounts. I've already moved a chunk of it into fixed term savings accounts, you can't access your money for a set period but you get a much better rate. A whole 1%!

Meanwhile inflation is at something like 4%, rising to 5% soon.
Someone has to put the interest rates up soon and stop printing money or it's going to be worth bugger all.

Yeah it's nuts - my first mortgage was 4.89% and I remember loads of people from my parent's generation (which is most of you lot, TBF) telling me that was way lower than they got. I've just re-fixed at 1.14%!
