After some deliberation,I finally bit for a Bagster seat. Hopefully it'll be a bit more comfy over distance. Might save me waddling about in gel cycle shorts,like I've papped me trunks. :silent:

For anyone thinking of one,mine required a bit of fettling to fit the way I wanted. I've no use for a pillion perch,even though you get one,but if I wanted to use it,then it would need a lot more work to fit than the rider's seat. A bit disappointing,considering it's not a cheap item.

I needed to cut a thread on an M10 x 1.25 titanium bolt for rear engine mount,man that stuff requires patience to work with. Hard and chewy at the same time. I was only using a die suitable for steel,so taking it slowly and lots of lube. ( Matron :o )

Turned out ok in the end,though I doubt the die has much life left. :lol:

Tis one of the main reasons you don't see much Ti stuff.....twat to machine. It's a cost driver as much as the price of the raw material.

Doesn't (some) Ti bolts have about 15% less shear strength, although a higher tensile strength, than steel ones?

The gear shift lever has always been sloppy,right from new. Just a poorly made item with too much clearance between the shank of the retaining bolt and the cheap bush fitted to the lever. So before splashing a load on a set of rearsets,I thought I'd try a fix.

So I punched out the bush and installed a couple of bearings to see if there was any improvement.

It seems a lot better,no sloppiness at all,so we'll see how it goes.

I snagged a set of mint GB Racing covers from an ex Zed owner. They'd only been on the bike for 500 miles apparently.

A fraction of new price. Now I'll flog my R&G casings. The GB seem to be much better made.

Yeah,they've maybe become used to being the 'go to' for protection and are resting on those laurels. Now there is more choice,the folly of that mindset becomes apparent.

I clacked on a Beeline to see if I can get on with one. I didn't want my phone out there,nor a big fuck off sat-nav screen,so we'll see how it goes.
I may try to position it more central.

Around 3500 miles from new and the rear Power 5 is gubbed. I wanted to eke it out until 4k,but no chance.

The front has lasted 7500 miles,which is pretty damn good for me.

I'm in two minds to buy the same again,or to try a Pilot Road 5 or 6.

I went with the Road 6,last day of the 30 quid cashback con/deal. A gentle ride home showed them to be a little twitchy on a good lean,I really hope that's just new tyre wearing in. The Power 5s were faultless in that regard. Maybe just something on the road caused the rear to step,I couldn't replicate the moment,so we'll see. Time will tell. There wasn't that same magic 'new tyre feeling' with these either.

The sixes will do.

I've had a proper chance to feel them out today and they have enough grip for my needs. Pushing them and deliberately and trailing the occasional peg showed them to be totally unbothered.

I'll move on and forget about them now. :thumbup:

Oil change today,up to 12k miles on the old girl now and still hugely enjoying the bike.

I had the opportunity to try out the Road 6s on patchy and fully damp roads. I have to say they are completely unfussed what you do,they just seem to grip and never once felt twitchy. There was no reaction when passing over a damp patch with a fair tilt on,or powering out of corners using more throttle than normally sensible in such conditions.

I know where I am with them now and I'm happy enough to recommend them.
