They come OE on Bridgestone S22 which are really good. So the angels will be what the shop have fitted.

Re: GSX-S 750
I've jumped on dozens of bikes on track without looking at the tyres. None were as bad as the shite we used to race on

Re: GSX-S 750
I really like it, but I was expecting a bigger difference to a 30 year old similar bike.
I don't like the multi function display screen speedo, it's too difficult to read when riding, but I also appreciate I need to give it a try before adding a rev counter I can see.

I've got a pair of part worn Dunlops in the right sizes that Weeksy gave me, I could try those, but I'll give the Angels some mileage before I give up on them.

Glad I bought a new bike today, just found out someone I knew years ago who was two years older than me has died

Re: GSX-S 750
It's one of the reasons I went for a ride today. So easy to think I can't be bothered and what's the point of riding to Ely for no real reason. But damn I had a laugh and even the wind and low sun annoyances we better than sitting at me desk working

They look pretty soft, and that shagged right to the edges look would be quite amusing on the GSXweeksy wrote: ↑Thu Oct 28, 2021 9:19 pmI think they're Sportsmart TTs which are ace!Le_Fromage_Grande wrote: ↑Thu Oct 28, 2021 8:04 pm I've got a pair of part worn Dunlops in the right sizes that Weeksy gave me, I could try those, but I'll give the Angels some mileage before I give up on them.

Re: GSX-S 750
AS you've said before though, no bikes do that to/for you any more.... So i think it's as much as 'you' have changed as a person and become less excitable rather than the bike.Potter wrote: ↑Fri Oct 29, 2021 8:30 am I applaud the honest appraisal and I recognise that same feeling.
These bikes are great, they're hard to fault, do everything fairly well, etc, and I'm sure you'll have plenty of fun on it - but as you've discovered they're not really going to set your heart on fire.
Personally I think it's because people like us are/were used to the bikes that came out in the 80's and early 90's that really did set your heart on fire. Your FZ750 might be an old bike but back in it's day it was the cream of the crop and that quality has endured so you still feel it even today - and even though these newer middle range bikes might handle a bit better or be a bit faster they still don't ooze that quality feel or light a fire underneath you.
Anyway, in it's own right the GSX is a great bike, it goes well and yours looks good too, I'm sure you'll enjoy it if you accept it for what it is.
The only thing I'd say is don't spend a load of money buying stuff for it trying to turn in into something else, ride it for what it is.

Re: GSX-S 750
I also think it's cos there were huge leaps forward in bikes in the 80s/90s and whilst bikes have got better since with leccy stuff and higher BHPs they are more evolution rather than revolution. Especially in the more midrange budget stuff.

Re: GSX-S 750
The last bike I bought, that within half a mile I thought "This is fucking brilliant", was my Enfield Bullet 500. Still makes me smile every time I ride it. It's got 'character' that nothing else I've owned has had.

Re: GSX-S 750
I think you need it pretty early on with any bike... I'm not the sort who grows to love a bike, i either like it within half a mile, or i simply don't and won't. Possibly the only one i could think of in my past that was a grower was the first 990 Superduke, but that was my first ever naked bike and i'd ridden Sportsbikes for the previous 10 years so took a little getting used to.KungFooBob wrote: ↑Fri Oct 29, 2021 8:53 am The last bike I bought, that within half a mile I thought "This is fucking brilliant", was my Enfield Bullet 500. These days though i do test ride purchases which i never used to and if i don't get off it thinking "yeah that was brilliant" then i'm not buying it.

Re: GSX-S 750
Hmmmm looking at that, i think it'd be a disappointment even compared to your Enfield. I think going for an Enfield custom built, maybe something likePotter wrote: ↑Fri Oct 29, 2021 8:58 amThe MV did and I'm currently giving real consideration to something like a Paton, I was on their website this morning (I look at them usually at least once a day ) and I can feel a burning desire for one - I'm just not sure the position won't cripple me, but I'd really really like one.
Special things are special, regardless of whether it's a jumper or a motorbike, I just don't get excited over average things so much because my life has changed - but back in the 80's there weren't many average bikes that came up on my radar, every one seemed to be amazing.
The Paton to me looks like a cheapo bike in a posh dress. The weight and power is about right though i'll admit. But other than that... it leaves me cold.
