Fitted a radiator protector i ordered before collecting the bike, cleans things up on the front end nicely.

Lost out on an exhaust that was local. I wasn't planning on an exhaust, but it was local and cheap enough, but i went £235 and lost out in the final seconds

I don't do FB, any chance of a picture ?

It's not a massive thing at the moment... but, maybe.

Does the stock xsr system come as a one piece.?

On the tracer, it's all one piece. You can change Can only, but it's a cut n paste job and removal of centre stand in many cases. I like centre stand.

It's 1 piece... i've no intention of hacking up a system, it's all or nothing.

Likely nothing at the moment, but over winter, maybe. If i'd got that one last night for £235 i could live with that, but a £600-700 system i'm struggling to justify.

Nothing screams "I'm poor and live on a council estate" more than a Blackwidow pipe.

Usually seen on battered old Blandits.

Have to say, I'm very much with Bob on this one- reckon you dodged a bullet there, and it would have been LOUD!

Loving the look of that Spark.it one, very nice- also probably gonna be loud though I suspect

I've just had a look on t'bay see what sort of money these XSR's are going for... the nearest one to me has the Zard pipe, but WTAF is that seat cowl?

Did someone actually pay money for that?

Is it a bodge or an official Yamaha one, cos it looks shite!

Quite a normal one that, it goes over the seat, not replaces it, so 5 mins with a toolkit and it's off.

How would you compared the XSR to the 790?

On paper they look pretty close...

790
105bhp
60ftlb
169kg

XSR
115bhp
65ftlb
195kg

I imagine the CP3 motor feels a bit more lively and characterful?

There's a very interesting question. It's a strange one but the XSR feels more 'scary' than the 790 somehow. It feels fast and gets up to speed with more purpose.
Handling wise i'd say the 790 beats the XSR as it comes... but we're getting there now with it.

Quality of finish, some bits of the KTM beat the Yamaha, but again, some of the KTM bits are worse. The main thing that stopped me getting the 790 was the little 'niggles' that they're prone to, the sprocket output shaft leak and the rocker cover gasket leak. But also i just wanted to try something 'different' and the XSR deffo ticks that box.
I've got Silverstone on the XSR on the 18th and i'm massively curious to see how that goes, the 790 was great on track and an easy bike to ride, but when i watched a video i saw Mrs Weeksy walloped me on the back straight at Pembrey, maybe she exited the old hairpin better, maybe it was the aero, maybe the power, so i'm really curious.

The main use for the XSR though isn't for track stuff, i've got Silverstone and Pembrey this year, but that's only because of how things worked out, but most of it's riding is back lanes/roads. For that stuff, there's not much in it, not much at all. Ergo and knee bend are a bit nicer on the XSR than they were on the 790, which along with it being 'easier' in a non-race type cruise riding, that's also part of what sold me on the XSR.

Overall, i'd happily have either in the garage.

There's a crazy amount of low milage 790's on t'Bay.

Makes you wonder if a lot of people don't get on with them?

Fella in my bike club just traded his BMW R1200R for a 790, he must be in his mid 60's, loves the 790 because its proper light and not much less power than his previous R.

From riding the MT09 on track you should just hang onto the back of a well ridden 600 on track, on the longer straights you may lose but not by much tbh, you gotta exit the corner with loads of revs and full throttle though :)

Yup, surely it can't be that hard to make fluid tight bikes. The 2016 Duke tanks leaked and now the Husky's too.
https://www.motorcyclenews.com/news/202 ... 01-recall/

And it doesn't seem the 790 leaks have been addressed at all. New bike still seem to have the same issues as launch bikes. Which is crazy.
