I'm going to see it in the flesh so to speak. Then I can make a judgement. I'm not a high mileage rider any more and just want something different and big enough for me to be comfortable on whatever riding I do. Yes, I would have a nice SuperDuke 990R, but then I would have to be doing trackdays to really enjoy the bike.

Have a go on a Triumph Trophy, I test rode the RT and the TT. I went for the TT, a far better bike in my opinion and you are not paying BM prices

That may well be a training bike with that mileage? Also, the MOT stuff may indicate that it's been sat up for longer periods of time, rather than in daily use.
They were never much liked by 'my' lot, as they were run alongside stuff like the FJR1300. Personally, while I didn't really like them through towns etc because they were a bit agricultural, out on the open road, during blue light runs and longer trips such as events, I really liked them. Very comfy, and surprisingly quick and handled pretty well. They look very chunky, but it's all plastic and not much weight to them at all, well, for that style of bike!!!

The build quality was definitely a bit 'iffy' mind you, not totally what you'd expect, but then ours were given a very hard life and exposed to all sorts of crap.

We've run a few to 60+k miles with no great problems, they will look a bit of a shit state with that mileage mind you.

As this may well be a straight swap for the K, I'm avoiding any financial outlay other than changing insurance details. Good to hear it is nice at longer runs, that is more my thing than town riding now. Gone are the commuting days.

Ah well. That was short lived. His wife has denied him the bike swap. Happy wife happy life! I do agree with that side of things. I'll still consider one of these though.

Has to be said - as a dynamic machine they're excellent - it's the maintance and potential issues due to the complexity of the electronics that put me off when they were new (the 1200s in general that is).

I am sorely tempted by an R1150RT for commuting purposes from the new house though (seeing as the Monoracer is leagues out of my budget)

I am loving the K, but really enjoyed the R1150GS I rode as a loan bike. It just clicked. I'd look again at similar boxers and do a swap/pex for one. It has got me thinking. The wife is away so I can think about bikes a bit more!

It is a ridiculous bike and such a hoot to ride. I do enjoy being out on it and riding the beast, but it is seriously rapid for what it is.

I would have loved to be a fly on the wall for the meeting where they gave the go ahead for it, its just so un-BMW.

I love it when it hits 6k and the engine wakes up and the roar from the intake and the thing starts howling and the world goes backwards.

It's just toooo quick.

I had a brief period of taking to almost redline in the first 4 gears just because the sensation was just so exhilarating (private road etc...) Truly an incredibly quick bike. But I really do want to keep my license! And it is a bit unbecoming of a man of cloth to ride like a lunatic...
