I wonder how a £30 pair of workman trousers from Screwfix compare to £160 pair of motorcycle specific trous?

Obviously there the the difference in armour, but there's ways around that.

Yeah,I've pondered that myself. Because motorcycling is perceived as a hobby/leisure pursuit,folk are mostly happy to pay inflated prices for almost everything.

I assume bike specific trousers have to pass some kind of abrasion/impact testing to rate the triple A thingy on my RST jeans,but I couldn't tell you what that means in any great detail,or even if I'm terribly interested. They are comfy on and off the bike and since they have armour,my tiny little brain tells me I've done my bit and taken reasonable precautions.

Probably (hopefully) the bike specific jobbies will perform better at saving one's hide in the event of a crash,but I don't know if they would do that 5 times better than work kaks + armour,relative to cost.

I nominate KFB to properly test the two troos and report back.

Surely its worth paying more for products that have gone through the right channels and have been safety checked specifically for motorcycle ?

Draggin used to sell kevlar longjohns - wear a pair of them underneath and you could wear pyjamas let alone screwfix work trousers.

I bought Draggin cargos and wore them all round Croatia and southern Europe last year in temperatures up to 38C. I actually chose them for the wider hem, so I could easily get them over bike boots, but they proved very user friendly, and of course being Kevlar lined they have more protection than cotton Screwfix specials. They do have pockets for knee armour but I didn't use that at the time.

XL Moto do some nice combats that are fully lined.
Free returns so make use of it as the sizing can be odd but the combats are great.
Have some in grey in both 30 and 32”.
30’s are snug but comfy, 32’s are far too big and closer to a 34” so have been worn once but missed the return window.

Should probably be in a 'for sale' section, but I have a pair of black Hood jeans, 34 waist (a 'roomy' 34, it has to be said) that I've lost too much weight to wear, hence my purchase of a pair of FT jeans a week ago.

PM me if you think you might be interested. They're currently hung in the room between the garage and house, feeling very unloved.
