2022 adventures, trips, tours?

Post by weeksy »

What you got planned for the big stuff? Any euro adventures? Local only? Weekends away in Scotland?

I think mine will be a long weekend in Wales with the boys. We did one a few years back now and it was honestly brilliant, both the riding, weather and the mates. Top trip it was.

If @scottyuk and @Paulo due a Cochem trip though I'd be very very tempted if I can make it work financially

No idea. Italy again in October, either with the kid or da solo. Had a great time last week.

I really should try to make time for more trips. I have the ideal bike plus I'm wind-swept, mysterious and have that air of racy, 'devil-may-care' about me. Plus I'm really good at packing stuff into small bags.

I would really like to get in one last big tour before I hang up my boots, to Croatia, Slovenia and Bosnia, or even better, the Western USA. :D

Mrs CJ is not keen on me disappearing for about 3 weeks. :(

Europe will still be there is 2023 so lots of long weekend UK trips for us. Cant take two weeks in the summer so probably two weeks in September and do the NC500

I've done Slovenia, Lake Bled. It's lovely.

For the last two years I've been meaning to do Lake Balaton, but the whole covid thing keeps getting in the way, maybe 2022 is the year.

Nothing discussed yet. With all the confusion and me missing two Euro track trips I'm now keeping my powder dry for a bit.

Will be doing at least one or two long weekends regardless of if it's Cochem or not. The Lakes and Northern England are calling as I've recently done Wales. I do have a trip booked to Moffat, Scotland for next September. I've still got a lap of Ireland outstandng on my tick list. I also feel the need to take the KTM down to the South West. It's done the JoG, Lowestoft etc but not the Lizard or Lands End. Any excuse to just ride

We'll be there too, plan was the TT for a mates 50th but couldn't get ferry tickets, so the Manx it is instead.

Weirdly, I've currently got a desire to explore East Lincolnshire and East Yorkshire, up to Scarborough, and then across to the top of the Penines and down to Matlock

Idea of Normandy / Le Mans area sometime but it'll have to be a long weekend ish..Do fancy the Yorkshire Dales and an odd night in North Wales. I've just been looking at Corsica.

The roads look mental, but not great surfaces and narrow, must be Supermoto heaven.

I'll be booking a euro TD (got a grand with FE, so hoping for a Portimao or Jerez, March/April time.
I will be taking the road bike to France in August but it will get towed there on back of the motorhome as it's a 2 week mtb trip to Chatel.

I'd like to go to Spain, but not sure I can trust the French (authorities) to not make the journey a misery? This was in the convertible car though...

I'm hoping to do the Manx - got some friends that go every year and I've missed out the last few (last time I went was to meet them with my riding buddy just before he had to stop riding)

Crossing fingers I can get a full time job after the winter, then I'll be heading over to meet them :)

Been to Corsica a few times, there are some really great roads, separated by some shit roads and shittier roads, plus its not that big, only took us 7 days to cycle round the whole island 😀

I'm trying to drum up some interest in 3 of my biking buddies for a leisurely meander through the French D roads down to our gaff in the Languedoc, do a few days in the region and then back again. 2 of them are fairly occasional bikers, the third hasn't ridden a bike for nearly 20 years after a bad accident but is always going on about getting another bike. I've offered to let him ride one of mine and he hasn't dismissed the idea, so that's a maybe.

There are some absolutely cracking roads in our bit of France (in fact the same is true of most of France) - well surfaced, twisty, great scenery and very light traffic. Heaven.

But then it all depends on Covid, I guess...

Before covid, we have toured Croatia. Get on that coast road down from Slovenia. Cracking. The last time we were down that way we went Slovenia .....Croatia....Bosnia..... Montenegro. Coming back, filtered through 8 miles of queuing traffic at the Bosnian border.

1 booth open out of 8. Wife has all the documents ready, Guy says “turn off engine and give me documents”. Guy says “ Wife give them to him. He looks at them for around 5 mins. Guys says “ There is no green card, where is green card” . I produce a document from my insurance company that states........ insured covered in Bosnia .....transit only.

The guy looks at it for another 5 mins and says “ this is Bosnia .....you need green card..... you have 2 choices..... go back or pay 30 euros fine. We pay up ......get our passports back...... wife calls him a effing shirt front in Chinese

Never going to bastard Bosnia again and if I see that border guy again I’ll kick his varicose veins in.

Back on topic......if restrictions allow.....in 2022 it’s Slovenia for us
