Music thread, whats hot and wotnot
Re: Music thread, whats hot and wotnot
Cool stuff. The Kingfish kid just has something for me though. Reminds me of a young BB King. Not because of his size or his style, but because he just has it in his bone marrow.

I'm waiting for new LPs to arrive by Jun The Jewels, Idles, Willie J Healey, Reign of Fury, Fontaine's DC and a reissue of PJ Harvey's debut album. There's an eclectic mix for you.

Cool man, but he needs to lay off the soul food or he'll go the way of Israel Kamakawiwo'Ole

Well, prompted by a Youtube suggestion I clicked on something by Hugo Kant.
For a start it seems theres something called Trip Hop and to my surprise I like it.
So far I've downloaded three Hugo Kant albums and I like them all.
Out of three albums worth I reckon theres maybe two tracks I'm "not right keen on" which is a pretty good average in my book.

Think I have a couple of tracks by Massive Attack but none were good enough that I bought an albums worth. For my tastes Hugo Kant blew them away.

Eric Gales is pretty good. He plays left handed but uses a normal right handed guitar, doesn't even change the strings around as left handed players usually do.
I have been listening to these guys quite a lot recently, chanelling Led Zep, Thw Who, Rush and a few other classic rock bands

The first time I heard Greta Van Fleet on the radio I genuinely thought it was some old buried Zeppelin track they'd dug up.

Re: Music thread, whats hot and wotnot
I have always loved listen to music - mainly because I spend hours in the car. but as i go slowly deaf it is less of a concern.
The other big issue is the lack of emotional attachment - I went to college in 78, so punk / new wave were in full flow ... great times.
I am determined not to become one of those people who has a mix tape only contains songs from my halcyon days - but haven't a clue to go to listen to new stuff.
I find Lauren Leverne / Radio 6 so pretentious and up their own arses.
Virgin Radio is like this century hasn't happened - and Chris Evans plays his favourite TGIF mix tape all day, every day.
Planet Rock is like the 90s and onward hasn't happened.
I have taken to playing the stuff they review in the Sunday Times every week on Spotofy , bust most is just "meh".
At a loss in how to get engaged again - but music no longer seems to be core to culture in the same way it was - it has become just as disposable as McDonalds wrappers ...

Never really been massive into Trip Hop. Tricky and Massive Attack are my main offerings...Mr. Dazzle wrote: ↑Wed Nov 04, 2020 5:54 pm Trip Hop is from Brizzle innit, maybe Greenie can offer something...

I heard Blackbird live by Alter Bridge at the O2 on Planetrock. Now have the album and am really enjoying it. Life long blues, Hendrix et al fan, so it's good to hear something a little different and quite edgy.
