Looking at this videos, the guy removes the bottom dog bone first, then the top bolt, then the shock slides forward easily to get at the bolt. You need someone else with you I reckon.

Maybe mate, maybe... For now... it's on the back-bench, i've peaked and got to get the ZX6R and associated kit ready for Mallory tomorrow.

So here's what i decided on the headers.
headers by Steve Weeks, on Flickr
Basically a standard system. I don't need more noise, i don't really care about dropping a few KG, it was purely because of the corrosion and the fact this black paint seems to chip/fall off... Some have had headers replaced by Yamaha but they'll do the same again.

The Akra was £500 at mates rates, the standard system is £50. It's a bit of a no brainer to me. As much as i like spending my money sometimes, i don't want to waste it as such, so it just makes sense.

Get the exhaust hot before trying to remove the O2 sensor btw.
Iirc Mr Y wants £230+ vat if you break it.

All done, painless and effortless... gave the underside of the bike a good clean while i was in there obviously. Now, onto the ZX6 stuff.Sadlonelygit wrote: ↑Fri Jun 26, 2020 2:40 pm Get the exhaust hot before trying to remove the O2 sensor btw.

Bloody hell are they your actual headers! I thought that was a pic from the Internet, not a 300 mile old bike. WTF thats terrible. Has the bit behind it corroded too, whatever that silver thing is?

The silver thing is the cheapest metal known to man, but cleaned up ok
Have to admit, although many bits about Yamaha have impressed me, some bits have not. KTM build quality for fastenings takes stick at times, but they beat Yamaha in that department.

Yeah, the new system looks like a stock jobbie off another model. Looks much better.
I thought we had gone away from shitty old painted headers. Instant Ratbike finish from new.

We then had a box arrive from the guys at Powerbronze.

As you may recall, i'm rarely a fan of screens, but they do have their uses at times.
The kit is nicely made, but if i'm being picky, the instructions are blurred and unclear (especially things like where the rubber washers go inside or outside the screen. I ended up inside, between the screen and the bracket.
Apart from that it's all good. Screen is adjustable, i've got it on the lowest/down position as i prefer the looks.
if you ask me, unlike most screens, this actually seems to make the bike look better !!!

Well that was a fail.... Comfortable enough, but i hate the fastening mechanism with a passion.

My Guzzi came with a Dart screen, I removed it as soon as I got the bike home because I thought it looked a bit rubbish.
I put it back on for the last ride out, it does make a massive difference to comfort at 70mph+
