WEll i'm not sure if last week i started heavy for some reason, but the scales are showing a 6lb loss last week, which takes me a lot closer to my goal than i expected to be at this early on in the game. Despite a weekend of a pub visit with a big pizza and beers. But the fight is a long way from over and we could quite easily have a 0lb this week, so lets not get all excited just yet.

It's all your fault Weeksy.
Today is my first day back on 5-2... first day of the '2' regime IYSWIM.

AND...i had a zero alcohol beer yesterday; my first since being designated driver as a young graduate almost 30 years ago. It was okay, a St Etienne from Aldi. The day was hot and the drink was cold and wet. Don't have a set of scales down south but will get the Wii Fit out when back north to track progress. Not looking forward to the oriental telling off I'm going to get from it when it works out my negative weight loss since 4 years ago!

Good luck fella... it can be tough on the 2s.

Today is my 2nd day in week 2... it's 7am and i'm hungry lol. So a bit of grin and bear it and just accept the hunger until later. I think personally this sort of stuff all comes down to mindset and determination. Along with having an end goal/date so you just sit and think "well, once i reach...."
The hard part of course is keeping it off and not letting it slip too far when you do stop whatever you've started with as your chosen 'diet'.

Also planning an indoor Zwift race today, which i always feel is good on a fasting day... i think it kick-starts your day well in terms of calories.

FWIW we're doing pretty well with the scales and i'm showing 8lb lower than i started. But with this sort of stuff you never really know until things settle down afterwards, but it's a good figure and good start to the process.

Thanks.
You have genuinely inspired my getting back on with it, so if that were all that these 20-something years of 'stalking' you on the internet provided it'd probably have been worth it just for the hopeful benefit to my health this year.

Actually, I think I should get into building steel-framed timber-clad garages as I've never felt as physically good as when I had to climb up and down the scaffolding, lug around and fix 300 6x1 x 4.8m boards!

I just got told about that yesterday and have now started it. I thought it should be easy for me as I don't normally eat breakfast anyway, but was surprised at how much I wanted to sneak a bit of my lunch, and normally do come to that, although I did resist. So the first day of it has been a great success! :D

Today we're showing as down by 9lb from starting, but that was post Zwift so may not actually be representative overall. But won't be far off.

https://www.zwiftpower.com/events.php?zid=2038160

The Zwift race was a joke, it was a mass start so the poor C riders get slammed and caught up with A/B. I went out too hard and paid the price. Add that to potential lack of power after 2 fasting days, means, I was a bit on the wrong side of rubbish.

Happily my face looks less fat and the mirror is a bit more friendly

2nd day of week 3 today and we're at 10lb lost. Just 1 more to get back into what I'd class as an acceptable level.

Today brought 2 tough Zwift races.
Race 1 was only short at 10min 13s but a high pace. I never really got into it though and despite a kick on the run to the line inknly got 4,th in Cat
Race 2 was longer at 33 mins and a much bigger field with multiple little kick climbs to split the bunches.
I ended that one with a 3rd after DQs and a decent effort.

Fri will be a longer outdoor slower one and then possibly rest on Sat due to weather.

I'm out with a few of the forum lads next weekend and I want to see the weight in the 14s before going to see them.

The wife and I have been doing the 16/8 fast for 4 days a week to start with. It's been fine for me, but my wife is really suffering with headaches and strong hunger pangs! Anyone else had such problems? Do they pass as the body gets used to it? I've told her to drink more water as I think that will solve it, but its only guesswork, time will tell I suppose.

Well this started OK, but as i hit a target weight and we got to summer, well, lets just say, the summer beer and BBQ months haven't been kind to me.

I'm pushing 12lb over where i really should be. So i've jumped back on the 5-2 again and trying to get going on the exercise with some more Zwifting. Legs are a bit tired today, but would be nice to do a Zwift so may just do a fairly gentle one a bit later as Weds is a diet day and i do like to cycle on the fasting days.

I've got my 50th birthday coming up in 8 weeks, so that 12lb is my first goal for birthday.

Ditto, apart from the BBQ and beers.
My biggest issue (other than willpower, obviously) is the 1300 mile return journey I'm doing every 10 days or so.
Firstly it's knackering. Secondly I'm finding myself eating trashy food on the journey rather than the huge box of salad I used to do for the journey when the services weren't open.

Had mine earlier in the year. Starting to feel if I don't get in shape very soon it'll be a LOT more difficult as the years continue (God willing) to go by.

Do you think you'd lose the same amount of weight by eating 7 days a week but reducing portion size to 5/7ths of normal, effectively eating the same as you do by fasting for two days out of seven?

Were those pomperdoms, onion barges, nan bread, rice, curry and beers you had in Llanelli the low calorie version. 😉
