1983 RD350 LC2 YPVS, handily I already own one, and enough parts to build about a third of another one.

If we're talking about looks, I'll have Speed Triple in nuclear red.Skub wrote: Mon Aug 23, 2021 6:10 pmAbsolutely. They drink fuel, smoke like a chimney, handle rubbish and blow up with monotonous regularity.
But don't forget the rules, this is mostly a running ornament. You lot seriously get your rocks off looking at a GS Beemer?![]()

Not just the brakes in the rain, it would dissolve and go red in a fine mizzle! The Spin Doctor wrote: Mon Aug 23, 2021 6:32 pm CB400-F2.
I loved that bike. (Apart from the brakes in the rain.)
Also the brakes were only marginal in the dry and the rear shocks were awful all the time on mine l, achingly pretty exhaust though

KTM RC8R. Ideal for trackdays (if they will still exist) and great for touring on too.

I think Bubble had one of those. When she bought it they'd stopped doing that colour so she got them to paint a brand new bike in the previous years colour. That's dedication to keeping yourself colour coordinated.Beancounter wrote: Mon Aug 23, 2021 9:50 pm

If I can only have one bike that's old, noisy and bad for the environment, I'm going to do it properly:

Re: Your single ICE motorcycle
Hmm, that's a real tough one - lots of older bikes I would miss having to look at or fiddle with and for the occasional ride, and a few current ones, but if it really had to be one bike, and one bike only, then it would be an MT10-SP I think at the moment whilst I've still got all my senses and most of my faculties, at least

Re: Your single ICE motorcycle
Of course, sorry.
It would be a fireblade of some kind. I've had two and nothing comes close to being as good based on the bikes I've had. That said I took mine off the road as it was too extreme to really enjoy anywhere else than the track. I don't see how anyone could choose a single bike, it's like only being allowed to have one guitar!
Gun to head, something like the ducati hypermotard would probably cover most bases, look good and be interesting enough to last, probably...

Re: Your single ICE motorcycle
I've never ridden a bike more tiring than my mates old kr1-s. I rode my 90s gpz1100-e1 up to Lancaster and we went out for the day. I rode around in 3rd and he worked like a loon. We swapped over for half an hour and I was breathing out my arse after 10 minutes.

1. Fuck that for a game of soldiers, I've got a car for transportPotter wrote: Tue Aug 24, 2021 11:00 am
1.If the challenge was to keep one and I had to use it for daily transport,
2.The idea of keeping an old bike sounds great, but they need a lot more attention than anything modern.
2. Hence my regular "what newer bike shall I buy" threads, I really enjoy riding bikes from the 80s, but they all require regular attention to keep running and it gets a bit annoying.
