Recent history considered, yes, lockable would be better, but that would mean carrying two keys. I’d rather just keep the bike original.

Orange headlight cover: Legality and efficacy

I personally feel more noticed in amongst a sea of cars when I have an orange headlight, especially in murky weather or in the rain. Would the wisdom of the forum agree? Also, is it legal in the UK? It’s an extremely common addition in South Africa where the law is ambiguous enough to get away with ...

Wanted: KTM 990 Adv cubby hole cover

The hinges on my cubby lid have been a bit broken for a while, but this morning the wind finally punished my procrastination. My cubby lid is now lying on the side of the road somewhere between Harewood and Leeds :/ Does anyone have a spare available. Preferably orange but I’m not too bothered with ...

Re: When/Where/Pics was the last time you rode your bike ?

The last time I rode my bike: 11 June 2023. I went for one last solo ride before packing up the bike to move to the UK. This pic was taken here , on the South African side of the Lesotho border. The border is defined by a small river on the near side of the dirt road you can see in the valley. It's ...

Re: Help with importing my bike

Appreciate the advice. When doing off-road training on the 990 I was advised to "stand up, look up, open up" when in trouble. I'm going apply the same ethos here and just send the form in with whatever I can filled in and see what happens. Question: The road tax is £61 and the admin fee is...

Re: Help with importing my bike

When I did it ( some 12 years ago) it was a fairly simple process. Does this help with the MSVA? https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/motorcycle-single-vehicle-approval-msva-1 Certification of Conformity usually has most of the data. DVLA will be where you should get most information Thanks. ...

Help with importing my bike

I hope someone here can help me get back on two wheels :( I've recently moved from South Africa to the UK. I couldn't face selling my 990 Adventure so I brought it with me, but three months later she's still sitting on the battery charger with a ZA plate. I have: Original South African registration ...

Re: New to the country, new to the forum. Hi!

Thanks for the welcome to those I haven't quoted. You'll find there's a wealth of knowledge here. Many people have known eachother for 20+ years through various forums which can make it feel cliquey at times to some newbies as everyone seems to know one another, but plenty of guys have come in too a...

New to the country, new to the forum. Hi!

I moved to North Yorkshire from Johannesburg, South Africa a few months ago and brought my 990 Adventure with me (also brought a wife and some kids). One of my first questions on the forum will be how to get my pony on the road! I was a very active member of the Think Bike and Wild Dogs biking forum...
