Re: Cannondale Bad boy

Fair. I'd go for some bar ends tho'. My hands get awfully bored in just one position!

Re: Cannondale Bad boy

Nice bike, but are you defo ruling out an ebay 2nd hand? You could spend under half that for something decent. :?:

Re: Cannondale Bad boy

I had a bike fit, and the reach on my current bike is nearer to the small frame than medium. I'd rather stick a 10mm longer stem on a bike to 'fit' it properly than go for a bigger frame. You have have longer arms for your size, more or less flexibility, etc, etc. Many things to consider. Think I'd ...

I'm your height and would go for a small :D Stick a longer stem on if anything.

Re: What have you bought for bicycle today?

Got some new rear pads, Muc-off drivetrain cleaner (that is pad friendly) and disc cleaner.

Can you guess what I did on Sunday? :D

Re: Cannondale Bad boy

The budget keeps going up. https://www.planetx.co.uk/i/q/CBPXLREVAP1M/planet-x-london-road-evo-sram-apex-1-disc-road-bike Makes more sense. tyres will puncture less, disc brakes, 1x11 crankset, good clearance etc. I thnk the M will fit you nicely unless i've mis-sized you. That's a decent shout for...

Re: Cannondale Bad boy

Finding a new bike in stock is going to be your problem. Think there's none of that decathalon in stock. I'd take my £500 and see what it gets me on eBay. If it's for getting dirty commuting I'd want the least appealing so-won't-get-nicked as possible. £450 gets you a Whyte! https://www.ebay.co.uk/i...

Re: Cannondale Bad boy

Agreed with Moofo. £700 and the drivetrain you get for that. I'd spend half on a Carrera Subway 2 if it's just going to get dirty or stolen, but, well - lefty forks are OP.

Re: what a difference

I'm not sure the difference is all that. I went from MTB 35psi 2.6 chonky tyres to some 55pi 2.2 Race kings and the difference was insane. The 2.2 Race Kings (which are about as fast rolling as you can realistically get for a XC tyre before you start looking at thiiiiiin stuff) compared to 28c all w...

Re: More stupid MTB apparel questions

Next - I would like something to cover my lower legs, as they are also getting abuse from undergrowth, I need to be able to cycle in whatever is suggested. You can get knee/shin pads. I've tried them. I could not get on with them. You will look 53% more gnarly tho'. I guess if you're doing downhill...

Re: Helmets!

Feck it, I've bought the red one, it's only £36, if I don't like I can send it back. you won't like it, it'll look daft... but that's ok, they all do. It can't make me look much dafter, I'm a 53, shortish and overweight on an expensive mountain bike with 29" wheels, I look like a retired circu...

Re: Helmets!

I'll spare you sob stories, but my A&E visit was because I took my bike a mile up the road to post a letter. All my own fault barely going any speed. Never been to a bike park. I'm not that rad.

If you were truly that vain, you'd wear a helmet to avoid damaging your good looks, right?

Two weeks in A&E a few years ago means I used up my 9 lives not wearing one, so all the power to you.

I'll have a look at Giro. I need something between a typical road helmet and something enduro MTB. Giro Fixture looks smart tho.

I've got a Giant Fathom 27.5 that I bought at the beginning of 2019 to do the L2B. I picked the Cannondale synapse carbon this year.

Helmets!

I'm one of those awful, awful people that buys nice shiny bikes, but buys the cheapest helmets possible. I know. The horror. Well, I say the cheapest like it's a bad thing: I wear a Planet X Enduro helmet when on my MTB and a Carnac Croix for road. I've crash tested the Enduro. Whilst it weighs a lo...
