Re: Transferring tunes from ipod to new laptop

Bit late to the party but… I got over this by using VMWare Fusion Player - free version. I use it to run a free version of MacOS High Sierra which has the original version of iTunes - not the crappy new version. No problem. I have two 160gb iPods and both run very well. Needless to say, I have both ...

Re: What have you done today thread?

Worked my socks off. I’ve been redesigning the rear garden - a major on-going project. This week I’ve painted part of the garage and intend to put up some willow trellis. Have used it before and unless treated it quickly rots. I’ve decided to paint it bright red to match the green surrounding woodwo...

Humour: Just Another Hole In The Wall

I must admit, I did have a little smile/smirk when I first heard this on the BBC’s World Service. Builders eh…? :D “A part of China's Great Wall has been severely damaged by construction workers in central Shanxi province, who used an excavator to dig through it. Police say two people are suspected ...

Re: Your favourite dog breed?

Had both a GSD and a Rough Collie together as pups (Lassie type not the Sheltie). Both were wonderful with equal + and - points but if I was to get another it would be a Rough Collie because of temperament. The GSD would run through puddles and splash about whereas the Collie would walk around the p...

Re: PG's Mega Youtube Thread.

Hi Everybody. Hope you are all well in mind and body. I've been non stop busy - mainly sorting out years of music e.g. Allman Brothers, The Band, my Blues Collection and hundreds of thousands more as well as trying to discover bands I've missed. Here's a band from Colorado. I'll catch them wh...

I thought I would share with you my latest discovery. I imagine this could be quite useful to you if you have teenage children or are yourself a lifelong learner and wish to keep your mind active - you are never too old to learn. I came across these sites while researching undergraduate courses in B...

Re: Reading: The Book Thread

Botany is where it is at - or rather should I say where I am at. I have been adding to my ever expanding gardening/horticulture library with as many botany books I can lay my hands on. In particular, I have taken a liking to what are known as Florilegium . In essence, a collection of illustrations o...

Re: What have you done today thread?

Went shopping after yesterday’s aborted mission. Visited my favourite place - the local library. Bought a couple of books from the disposal shelf for 0.30 pence. The library staff are lovely people and always chatty. My massive big weakness is Books. As such, I borrow expensive books to have a read ...

Energy bills

A tip. I bought 2 x 4 moisture traps at a cost of £1.00 from the Pound Shop. They are meant to be disposable. I have recycled mine. I bought 2 kilos of the chemical from EBay which should last me quite a while. I am quite amazed at how much condensation they capture. I’ve got them spread here, there...

Re: Banks - A Very Long Read. Make Yourself Comfortable

Have just been reading their 2022/23 annual accounts - Oh get a life you silly old sod! - and came across this: Capita colleagues set to join the Bank in 1Q 23. ‘Capita’ known as ‘Crapita’ have/had got their mitts in almost everything from car parks to local government pensions and the contentious m...

Re: Banks - A Very Long Read. Make Yourself Comfortable

@Phoenix that sounds horrific. Incompetence piled on top of mendacity. I did not realise that the Co-op bank was essentially a fraudulent operation using a once-revered name. I will certainly avoid. I’m afraid so. It is so very wrong to confuse the name with other branches of the Co-operative Movem...
