Rover SD1 3.5 Vitesse.
I had the pov spec 2.6 and my mate had a 3.5 which was a bit tail happy. Proven quite successfully when he lost it on a wet roundabout and wrapped it around a lamp post.

How to *really* spoil a YammaGamma. Did they run out of ideas where to put the bodywork so plonked it on top? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/235587830280?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=zKWlL5MDR1q&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=AP0uId07RQO&var=&widget_ver=artemis&med...

Re: 400 Trumpets...
I did an off road day in Wales on the Triumph Scrambler and was massively impressed by it's capability. I thought it'd be the wrong tool for the job (compared to full on adventure bikes) but was very wrong. On road I didn't notice it running out of breath. Only negative was the XE model was a bit ta...

Career wise I do have to have a 5 year plan as part of my IMechE membership / chartership. That's always been the case for membership on paper, but they actually audit it now. I won't bore you with the details :D Normally an IMechE or IEEE plan involves giving them lots of money and getting FA back...

Re: Electric bikes - “handbrake”?
The lever used to mechanically slide a bolt/pin into the transmission, now it asks a computer to do the same sort of thing. Means you can no longer accidentally jam that pin into the transmission at 70mph :D I guess you know but a park pawl is ratcheted so can't engage at speed. Only when close to ...

Re: Electric bikes - “handbrake”?
The Super Soco has a security feature whereby if the motion sensor is triggered it will hold the bike with the motor. So an electronic park brake type principle.
So it is possible to detect a roll away and counter it.

Re: Where, on the windscreen, do you put your phone (for satnav)?
Nearside = near to the kerb Yes, but that is a different side when working on rhd and lhd cars. Yes in all seriousness, this is why manufacturers (and me :D ) speak in terms of left and right. Odd part numbers for left, even for right  Often they don't even draw the RHS part and it just sa...

Re: Post Office scandal
What I didn't really understand was why senior managers at the PO were prepared to repeatedly toe the corporate line even when they knew it was causing human suffering. If it was my own employer I'd first go through corporate channels to report it and then whistle blow if they weren't interested. It...

Re: EICMA
TE-1 was a semi structural composite pack. The CoG was exactly the same as the Speed Triple and the weight the same as a fully fuelled Triple.
You can tell I'm still gutted it wasn't built
Some of the motors are uber trick. High speed and high switching time isn't cheap though.

Re: EICMA
My bet would be Triumph didn't go anywhere with the TE-1 simply 'cause it'd be too expensive to turn it into a road vehicle. Too expensive a project, and targeting an extremely conservative market. Regarding not banning ICE motorcycles in the same way as cars - I can't see that happening for purely...
