Re: Depression

Silly Car it sounds as if you're doing all the right things buddy. When the black dog is in residence it can be a struggle just getting-up and making the bed, so you're ahead of the curve on that one. Perhaps discuss with your GP about different SSRI meds. There are so many out there and we can all ...

Confession Time!

Okay, 'fess up. Who gives their bike a pat on the tank after a good set of bends, or a good ride?

I do!

Re: Mallory Park trackday.

I loved Mallory, great little circuit and easy to learn (no extra chicane on the back straight when I was racing).

If you were on the pace then Gerrard's was one of the scariest and exciting corners in the country, perfect for Ducatis with their fast, stable corner speed. The Bus Stop could be a ...

Re: Honda VT250F - Buzz Buzz!

Bit more progress today - the BT46s arrived so I fitted those which was a complete PITA - especially the front as it's only a 16in rim and there's no room to work. Anyway they seem a good profile and are light years younger than the road Runners!

Also changed the front pads, bled the clutch ...

Re: Would you have an electric car if you had the money for a new car and were in the market for one?

My EV is a two trick pony. It does 0-60 in 3.5 seconds AND it costs about £1.70 to 100 miles.

Impressive figures without a doubt, but that £1.70 is going to skyrocket in a year or so, the damned Government will make sure of it!

Re: Would you have an electric car if you had the money for a new car and were in the market for one?

Buy an EV.......? I'd rather have a night in with Ebola.

Sure, very quick off the line but a one-trick pony doesn't interest me at all. I'm still hoping someone's going to perfect the Hydrogen engine but even if they do, it seems the Government are going to stampede us towards electric everything ...

Re: Honda VT250F - Buzz Buzz!

What will lighter springs achieve?

I know the DJ springs made a massive difference on my 98 Fireblade, the throttle response was so much snappier, but I assumed they were heavier springs to help close the slides quicker?

Or does lighter springs mean there's less vacuum needed to lift the slides ...

cmsnl.com show the spring part number as 16050KE8004

https://www.cmsnl.com/honda-vt250f-1982-c-japan_model48662/sp-vacuum-piston_16050ke8004/

I can't see all the other Hondas that use the same part number without registering, but the VF and VT500 use the same spring.

Ah, but it's a lighter ...

Re: Honda VT250F - Buzz Buzz!

Seems like your bike has CV carbs, so it's the return springs you'd need to be looking at to reduce pull weight. There is a spring on the slide, but it's related to how much vacuum it takes to open the carb, you wouldn't want to mess with that.

Unless it's a known issue for the model, you might ...

Re: Honda VT250F - Buzz Buzz!

Further progress on the VT....

Fitted a braided line to the front brake. I think at 43 years old, the original was a bit passed its best! I've also reversed the gear change as that's what I'm used (and it's better anyway for loads of reasons) and machined new bearing inserts to remove the slop in ...

Re: Do you think the RC30 is an iconic bike?

Yes, the RC30 is definitely an iconic bike.

I'm not into Jap bikes much, but I think it's a superb piece of kit and one of the prettiest bikes Honda have ever made. Technically not as advanced as the 45 but more successful in its own right and far better to look at IMO.

For me it personifies the ...

Rule 2 - Don't wear a ridiculous German look-a-like helmet
Rule 3 - Accept that not everyone has inherent balance, and stick to four wheels

Decent SCOTT Leather Jacket 44"

Decent quality SCOTT cowhide jacket made in England.

It's a few years old but in generally good shape - stitching good, no tears, lining good and clean, moderate scuff near right cuff, zip/press stud front, two outside and one inside pocket, flexible panels at shoulders and sides. The leather is ...
