Should do. Most of your details are in your google account rather than the Chromebook itself.

Also, your 'user data' stored on the Chromebook is heavily encrypted, it's almost impossible to access without your credentials.

Anything in particular? I was thinking of getting a chrome book as I only use my personal laptop for casual stuff but it's dying. I could switch to a tablet but I like a 15 inch screen. Chromebooks are cheaper and I was hoping are fine for surfing.

I was all for a Chromebook, but having had one, nah! Does nothing better than a 'phone device, and you just can't use it like a laptop.

If your laptop is dying stick Chrome os flex on it and try it out https://chromeos.google/intl/en_uk/prod ... lex-signup

You don't get the PlayStore with OSflex but there's loads of webApps and you can install Linux apps on there too now.

It can do 99% of what I need with a few Linux Apps loaded on - I have 2 devices that need either Windows or Apple to update their firmware.

For just surfing and office docs/spreadsheets they are just fine.

You could buy a cheaps SSD drive and stick that in and install osflex on it and if it's not for you switch your windows HD back in

No not really. It just reminded me of trying to move to Linux. It was not Windows and i could not get used to it. Silly things like programs you miss as no Linux or Chrome versions but as for sitting playing on the internet it was fine.
