Never thought about that TBH. Out local Tesco has lockers and i am a bit sick of my parcel being left on the door step all day in view of the street. Even if at home as the delivery driver must be a midget and cant reach my door bell.

The only driver who rings the bell here is the Sunday contract driver, the regular drivers don't.

I have Amazon Prime and use it a lot

I ordered a single lightbulb, free delivery. When it didn't arrive within a couple of days I checked up on it and realised that it was coming from Italy.

Amazon.fr haven't worked out some delivery points are not and never will be next day!! LOL Even with Prime! If I use Amazon they give a date for delivery and it is always the day after, sometimes 2 days after!! LOL

Until business rates are reformed I doubt that will happen. Indeed, a further decline is more likely...

I'm expecting theAmazons to deliver an oil filter in a bit, so really hoping it turns up a massive box.
Srsly though - there must be a better, more environmentally conscious, way of getting this stuff delivered? Does an oil filter even need an effing box? It's already in a box, all you need for single items already boxed is a label like if you were picking and weighing a flipping aubergine at the shops. Or is it for the purchase anonymity so that the postie doesn't see how many massive dildos we're getting through?

Well, I want mine in a box*. If I am getting my supply of massive dildos**, I actually want to make sure it gets to me, not get 'lost' somewhere in transit as someone has taken a fancy to them.
I have received something from Amazon with a honking great big label stuck on the front of the item's box. It pissed me off as it was just before Christmas and could have easily been a gift for someone.
There is occasionally the option to use the original box, but I always choose amazon packaging for the 2 reasons above and if it's going to be delivered when I'm not in, I don't want it out in the open at the mercy of the elements and local scrotes.

* Doesn't have to be a massive box.

It was interesting, over a long period of time, to watch Sheffield city centre die, accelerated by stuff like Meadowhall. Then it became more profitable to redevelop central areas as residential* so the city centre population grew....and lo! they needed/wanted local shops so things started to evolve and the place started to come to life again.

Even in the nearest village (more of a v small town really) and in the nearest large town (the football team styles itself as 'city' - the place has a university and a cathedral etc) similar things are happening.

Maybe we need a 'zoning' approach where business rates and rents are managed in order to breathe life back into places. We're lucky, we still have one 'proper' butcher and even a fishmonger (!) but even there the supermarkets have killed off the fruit and veg shops and it's all becoming nail bars, barbers (money launderers) and charity shops but, slowly but surely, bits are being built/redeveloped that people actually live in and they'll want rather more.

* large student population too which actually helped, in some ways.

The small village I live in has two nail bars (although TBF one recently closed and is now the lady from the bakers has opened it up a a massage parlour) and two hair salons. I don't go to any of them - if they'd've taken a survey I would have said we need more Pie Shops.

When half the shit I want to buy is locked in cabinets at the shop & I'd have to wait 15 minutes for a worker to show up with the key so I can buy what I need they can go fuck themselves. I want to be in & out of the shop in maybe 10-15 minutes tops, not spend half the fucking day waiting for cabinets to be unlocked. My weekly visit to Wally World used to be around $100-$120, now it's about $30.
