Have you seen what a nice one costs, I am happy, wanted one to ride for ages, but I'm not prepared to pay £6K for one.

Yes, one of the reasons it's cheap, I know where I can get a frame with a V5

I guess it had to come one day, and here it is- I agree with Yorick, there I've said it
Seriously- even though I reckon I love LCs at least as much as anyone on here, thats so not my cup of tea and something I'd run a mile from , but hey, it'll blend it well with the rest of your stable
All piss-taking aside though, it's a smoker, and it will be an interesting thread assuming you do one, so gets a thumbs up from me
- what do you have planned for it, just ride it as is (once you get it running of course), or some fettling / re-styling etc?

Originalish headlight, a set of clip ons or ace bars and it will look loads better.
Hope it runs ok and doesnt end up as a money pit

Good man, that's the sort of shitter I'd consider buying.
Worth trying to get it dated and thereby get a proper registration number? It cost £30 or £35 to get my TDR dated for the DVLA. It was dated by the aircooled RD club.

Indeed, just because it was a race bike doesn't mean it needs to go on a Q Plate... unless someone took the grinder to the frame number?

I think my Dad once told me , if you've got nothing nice to say , say nothing at all.
But then again , he might not have.

He wasn't your real dad.

Plans for it, get it running, sounds like blocked pilot and cold start jets, could be a knackered stator, worst it'll be is the crank seals, which still isn't too bad to do as I can do everything apart from any machining myself.
The cosmetics will get sorted with a replica 1983 fairing, a standard seat and tail piece, it then depends on how much I want to spend on it, but the frame might as well be returned to red as it would have been originally, if the engine has to come apart might as well get the casings coated and paint the top end black. Whether I get the rest of the bodywork back to original will come down to how much I want to spend.
To be fair I also quite like it as it if and may not do much at all with it.
What I'm going to use it for? Quite tempted to use it for drag racing, a stroker is massive fun on a drag strip, and I've got a better bike for the road and a better bike for the track - both 30 year old Yamaha's.
