Insurance costs!

Had abit of a shocker this morning. Sold the CB1R so took it off my multi bike policy and was expecting a bit of a cash back. But, no the policy with Aviva went up by just over £400!

Apparently with 2 bikes it splits the risk of each so without the second bike the risk on the X-ADV increases dramatically. Okay I kinda get that as it always brings policy prices down by adding drivers. Fair play to Bennetts as they shopped aound and got me a policy for £620 which is what I was paying for both bikes, but even then, insurance costs are deffo on the rise around here!
<fx. Taipan wanders off to look at current prices of X-ADVs and SH300s...</fx>

X-ADVs are massively in demand from the scrotes, but then you knew this when you bought it.

Statistically they aren't actually that bad. A Tmax is a lot more risky to own, or many other scoots tbh.

Recent breakdown of insurance costs and policy increases in I think the FT.
Mostly about cars but probably applies to Bikes as well.
Cars more expensive to repair esp EV
Insurance companies grifting each other over repairs (That wasn't the phrase used )
They were making a loss on their policies

If insurers stopped giving out courtesy cars (costing hundreds each week) willy nilly, then premiums may reduce.
Or are the insurers also having a financial interest in these hire companies?

It's the fact that they hand your details straight over to a claims management company that's the big problem... I got a call saying how they'd handle everything and I wouldn't have to do a thing a few minutes after reporting a no-fault claim on my camper. They are massively inflating repair costs, holding up the process of getting the vehicle repaired (sometimes for months over something trivial) and charging the insurance companies astronomical sums for the car hire.
There's no obligation to use one (though they try to make it sound like that way - the claims company representative told me over the phone he had been 'appointed to handle the claim' as if he was from the insurers themselves. I had to ask a few questions about exactly who he was working for to realise that no such thing had happened.

A car that, statistically is more likely to be nicked or crashed. Because, statistically, they're driven by younger or less experienced drivers, so, although it's nothing to do with the car per se, statistically, the car is a greater risk.

My car insurance is up next month Ford Focus 1.6 fully comp,no commuting,it's gone up by £5 to £250.
I'll start looking for some other quotes, but if they're similar I'll stay with the current insurers.
Bike's are due for renewal in March.

I was a bit miffed last week when my renewal came through, it's been exactly the same price for 3 or 4 years so I've just let it auto renew. This year it has gone up by about 35% and when I rang them, they dropped it straight back down to almost the same price as last year.
Still only £135 though
