Anyone seen one of these?
I think this came from my Grannie - so could have come from almost anywhere. Grandpop, was in the navy then in customs, they married in Gibraltar
I think it’s brass or bronze. Very heavy!
Just no idea what the design is or where it might have come from. I was using it as a doorstop! Been in a box since I lived here!!

Wow. There's no dates or anything on it to give any clues. No idea why, but I do like it

Re: Anyone seen one of these?
It's more about what's the purpose of the thing! It's an awesomely scary female depicted and if it is indeed Queen Elizabeth I, that's really cool
I just can't see any real purpose for it - except as a door stop!! LOL

I wouldn't know what to look for - round brass thingy with a scary queen on it? Not sure I could risk putting than on the interweb as a search!!

Brass dishes, if that's what it is, are normally commemorative items. My Nan used to have one with the Queens head on, but more like a coin type of thing. I think it was from the coronation?

That would be nice!!
That makes sense. This is about 4.5 or 5 inches across I think. Bloody heavy!

Re: Anyone seen one of these?
Does sound similar to my Nans one, albeit more elaborate. My Nans was an even plainer version of one of these. The one you have seems very elaborate and possibly not for the masses?

Re: Anyone seen one of these?
it's 3lbs 1.8oz and 14 cm / 5.5 inches so no round figures of the time
No engraving at all
Can't find anything similar online - but me and Google aren't friends!!
