Better still - maintain situational awareness so you recognise that the road doesn't go straight on (the tree in front of him several seconds before he brakes is a good clue), then ride to your stopping distance, ensuring it stays within the Limit Point!

Oddly enough, I find that staying out of hedges is a LOT more fun!

I can honestly say I have only crashed into a hedge once...
