Off to Wales tomorrow
Wish me luck
The Diavel is getting a weekend away with two BMWs - based nr Welshpool and a lap of Snowdon / Yr Wyddfa is on the cards
So behave and don't wind up Weeksy and Count Steer
PS I haven't been that far North in about 3 years !

Me too... drop in and watch the racing. Right next to Revolution bike Park, arguably near some of the best roads possible local to where you're riding

I'm not going to Wales this weekend. I feel left out.

Might pop into the Mid Wales airport at Welshpool for a buttie, or pop over to Llandrindod Wells, see how the fancy takes me.

Re: Off to Wales tomorrow
The road from Bala to the 470 used to be a PB mag test route. Off that road to Ffestiniog was a corking b road blast, then north through the Crimea pass towards llandudno, right turn back into A5.
Roads out the back of Beddgelert are fun, and up past Betws as well.
Or the 44 to Aber

Deffo great roads there, even in the van. But I expect on a bike they'd be ace.Sadlonelygit wrote: ↑Thu May 09, 2024 7:59 pm The road from Bala to the 470 used to be a PB mag test route. Off that road to Ffestiniog was a corking b road blast,
B4391 seems to be the road by Revs then onto a494 to Ffestiniog

Me too! I'm doing the Welsh National Road Rally, and will be doing a loop up north from Builth Wells. Can't wait.

Watch out for plod. That road out of Bala towards Ffestiniog is one of their favs. Couple of lay-bys they sit in, in disguise.

Re: Off to Wales tomorrow
And yes, they were there.
I haven't beem to mid / north Wales in years - we were really lucky and had solid sunshine (until an immense thinderstorm hit on Sunday night). Learnings for me - the mates I go with ride very slowly. Fair enough that the want to stick to speed limits - but 50 on a national speed limit road, won't overtake long lines of cars / trucks (apparently it really annoys other road users. * according to his IAM assessment). It's either that or I am a dangerous impetous risk taker and never realised it.
The Diavel could have been an ideal tool for the roads, but not at 50 mph and the amount of police around. It is also immensly uncomfortable (for me) - not sure why but I am on my 4th seat, and it is still torture. After 1 hr it becomes really painful. - I can manage 60 or so miles on a motorway, or when riding twisties at good pace. Welsh roads, at pedestrian 50 mph, I could do 30 mins!
Looks like it's going to be sold

ZH2 with comfort seat = all day comfort, either bimbling or at "telephone numbers"

Re: Off to Wales tomorrow
That combination of circumstances sounds unlucky, @Mr Moofo . By contrast the V85TT was all day comfortable, for me. And of course as I was riding alone I could go at my own pace.
I thought I wasn't going to be able to do the rally at all, though. Saturday morning, unlocking the bike, oh no, an oil leak from the shaft drive. As I was wondering what to do the B&B owner appeared, and said, 'oh, that'll be cat's pee. There's a tomcat round here who likes to mark his territory, and you've parked in his favourite spot.' It was true. It soon evaporated and I saw no sign of any 'oil' for the rest of the day. I'd never have imagined how happy I could be to be told a cat had peed on my bike
