Was it a kit?
If this is a potential hobby, invest in a barrel..easier to clean and no risk to the kitten. I keep mine strapped down on an old tea trolley outside ( the wind took one, which really hurt as there were a few pints of ginger beer in it).

Cooking in the shed is a lot cheaper than a heat belt/ pad...stick it outside in the barrel its fine even through summer. Btw...simply ginger beer is gluten free and comes out well strong with double sugar and turbo yeast.

I strap the barrel down, not the kitten.
