Seat cover repair
Stupidly put my seat on a shelf rather than on the floor, only I hadn't put it on properly and down it fell causing the edge to split. What's the best way to attempt a repair? Was thinking gorilla glue and a tiny strip of tape. Although would rather it didn't look gash. It's at the front edge of the seat where it nestles into the tank

Re: Seat cover repair
How annoying. Gorilla glue, like you say and then maybe try an aerosol of flexible vinyl paint for a quick blowover?

Re: Seat cover repair
I think Gorilla glue will set too hard and inflexible. Maybe a contact adhesive like Copydex which stays flexible? Main thing would be to keep the rain out.

Re: Seat cover repair
Good point. Wonder if I can find a small strip of vinyl/fabric and fabric glue it over the top

Re: Seat cover repair
Colour matched seat cover with a load of GSXS logos on it, off ebay.
Was there an optional comfort seat for your model, time for an upgrade?

Might be worth investing. Or look at getting mine improved with a gel seat and new cover.

Re: Seat cover repair
One of the Sikaflexes might do it. Or Stormseal, used for for repairing neoprene dive suits. The former is available in black, the latter is clear.
Windscreen bond is another option, it's the same as one of the Sikaflexes but I can't remember which one.

Re: Seat cover repair
Get someone like Tony Archer to re-cover it and (if needed) add a little extra padding in required areas? Tony can also do piping in a contrasting/harmonious non-Bellwood colour...
There is no cloud, just somebody else's computer.

Re: Seat cover repair
For the size of the cut, I think, I'd still go gorrilla / super and an aerosol

Re: Seat cover repair
Sir has now a valid reason to upgrade to a comfy Bagster seat.

Re: Seat cover repair
Whatever you do will look gash but to keep the water out how about putting black sikaflex into the hole. Small hole cut in the tube and get it under the seat cover working your way into the middle. Scrape away and excess before it starts setting. Sikaflex will bend and flex when dry

Set the whole bike on fire, claim on the insurance and get a nice new Panigale instead.
If you need any help with the fire thing... £500.

Re: Seat cover repair
Arse! - that's not your immaculate GSX is it?- if it is , I'd be dead peed off.
As for making it right, well realistically, unless it was completely out of sight when fitted, I'd be recovering it or taking the opportunity to have it recovered Alcantara / have a gel pad fitted etc, but if it's out of sight , then I'd stitch it with strong cotton and finish it with black silicon

I think I'll either get this and/or look into getting it recovered and made more comfy

Re: Seat cover repair
Yup. I might bodge it temporarily but it would irritate me immensely (probably even if it was out of sight ) so I'd take it as an opportunity to make an improvement. Even just replacing it like-for-like would feel a bitTricky wrote: ↑Fri Apr 05, 2024 10:49 pm Arse! - that's not your immaculate GSX is it?- if it is , I'd be dead peed off.

So, improve or replace eg with a Bagster or similar.
