Ofeering Significantly Less for a Bike Than The Asking Price

There's a GSX400 Impulse for sale on Faceberk Marketplace near me, the bloke (Roberto) is asking £2.4K for it, I think it's worth £1K max, so I'm going to offer him £800 and see what happens, I suspect I'll be told to eff off.

£2.4K is what a dealer was asking for a really good condition one, his one has been resprayed poorly and has a 600 Bandit speedo so his claim of low mileage is bollocks as the actual mileage isn't known.

It'll be interesting to see what happens as I gradually pick holes in the bike, btw I'm pretty sure the same bike was for sale about a year ago for £900, there can't be that many poorly sprayed, 25 year old black GSX400s in the UK.

Just send him a message saying that you don't want to offend him with a derisory offer, but you are able to give him a grand today subject to inspection. then when you point out its non original instruments etc, go down to £800 :)

Might be worth checking the MOT history online to see if it's showing up with vastly different milage.
If the speedo has been changed recenttly it might show up.
I'm not sure when they started recording the milage and putting it online but its over 5 years ago as my vans milage shows up from before I bought it.
Also shows any advisories so you get a headsup about what should have been replaced and what wears out first.

£2.4k and you're going in at £800 with a max of a Grand...

Good luck with that...

I had silly offers from Facebook people for my rather mint NC. I'd ask if it is indeed what you say it is, but I'd also expect a polite email saying no thanks.

Indeed, I probably won't bother judging by the arsey message I've just had asking about the speedo, but it's not worth £2.4K

The issue with anywhere that allows you to advertise stuff for free is that you get chancers just trying it on to see if they stumble upon a mug.

Guy locally had a 600 teapot on the bay for 1500 buy it now. I bid up to what I thought it was worth, 800, but he had the reserve at 14. When it didn't sell he messaged offering it for 12. I told him I had 800 cash and if he wanted it fair enough, if not no problems. Anyway, he took.the 8.

Looking at the pictures it doesn’t look that bad.

Not £2.4 k worth but a bit more than £800.
