My mate in North Carolina had a huge property portfolio and mortgaged himself up to the hilt, he’d borrowed money on the strength of all his properties and when things started to get tough he was so far leveraged that he went pop.

One day he had about thirty million dollars worth of property but only actually owned about ten percent outright. Whereas I’d rather have the three million all paid for and no debt, then gradually add more, taking much longer to build my fortune but it’s lot safer.

Classic/fast cars, motorhomes, 80's superbikes, etc...

You've obviously got a fair wedge burning a hole in your pocket.

There's only one answer.

Spunk it all on drugs and hookers.

Exactly, it's possible, but Potter just isn't that kind of bloke, he's better than that in terms of knowing and greed, hence my statement of "what's the worst case"

I’m a working man who is scared to take too much risk with my money because I worked so hard to get it. So I put a lot of effort in to try and learn as much as possible to ensure that I’ve minimised risk anywhere I can. If information is out there that could help me lessen the risk of losing my money then I’m going to look for it and try to learn it.

But anyway, the Porsche isn’t an investment, I’d have to buy it accepting that I could lose money and perhaps significant money, like 50% or something if the arse falls out of classic Porsches.

You should only buy stuff like this if you really want it and the money isn’t the prime factor in it.

It's clearly been nicely looked after too, it's almost forty years old but looks really good for it's years, it's got about 75k on the clock IIRC.
It's a hundred and twenty-five bags though, so it's funny money and there isn't really any way to justify or verify the car versus the price, you pay it or you don't I suppose.

I really do fancy it, as I said the pictures don't do it any justice at all, I could sit looking at it all day long, but having that sort of money tied up in a car when I'm not really a big car enthusiast just doesn't really sit right with me.
Is it a Turbo?
Lovely looking cars, but that is serious wedge for a car.

Looks like a boring Honda sports car. What's special about it?

It's a year 1 version! Not a big fan of the styling tbh but the overall design/spec was quite something. Not a bad investment at <£90k (but I'll pass on the knickers offer ta!).

I've always found the stock NSX shape the most pleasing, those versions look a bit busy for my tastes.

7/10!

If Iccy wants to get my knickers in a twist he'll need a Type R, one of my favouritist cars ever.

Things like Austin Healy 3000's are looking as good as ever though the markets a bit flakey they used to fetch 64 K all day long about thats only now for concourse stuff Ive seen one very nice 3000Mk 2 been restored a while 64 K is the starting point for a conversation in todays market..... so less.Image IMO buy one if you really want the car not because it "might" wipe its face if you sold it. I"d buy this if I had the disposable but, I haven't, so wont. had nice stuff but all mondao money.

Mine too, we've had two of them, I reckon they're definitely up there with the best pound for pound fun car there is.
Suspension is hard as nails but that vtec engine is a screamer and loads of fun.

Never been a big fan of the NSX though, it looks awkward to me, not quite right somehow.

I reckon the car market has already crashed, like the watch market, but people are hanging on trying not to panic sell.
I've got two cars (Defender and Caterham) that are apparently depreciation proof - "You'll get your money back all day long Guv" sort of stuff, but I've tested the water recently just to see and only got silly offers, dealers are offering me peanuts on the Defender and won't even bid on the Caterham, they'll only take it on sale or return.

old disco's virtually worthlless least mine was. i went for a test drive in a caterham. Without doubt the most uncomfortable mode of transport ive ever tried. the driving position and clutch that only a power lifter can depress I didnt even take it out of the garage, I knew I couldn't live with it. Sure bet, it handled like a thing on rails, but rather get the bus.

Worrabout this?
My lad has been having a look and he's not so keen on the Porker or the F355, but he is very keen on an Aston, he found this earlier when we were discussing it and I think it's lovely, same sort of price range as a Porsche 930 although it's probably going to depreciate like a falling breeze block.

I'm not sure what hole you want this to fill, how is it better than the Caterham?
The others were classics, I prefer Astons but I wouldn't have* one like this.

* Chance would be a fine thing.
