That six pipe straight through exhaust system looks great, evokes Mike's Honda 6 and I bet it sounds glorious.
But how the fuck is it supported and how do you take the rear wheel off without removing most of the exhaust system?

I quite like it too. I'd prefer an original to own but I bet this one handles better.

I quite like it. The original was a horrid barge, and even SLGs refreshed version with the schmancy running-gear is a horrid barge. You need to do something to it that empasises that massive engine (which is the only good thing about it) rather than tries to disguise it.
What might have worked ( the OP image hits that requiremnet but unfortunately goes down a trodden route that will only ever split opinion given the hipster vibe) is if someone had redesigned all the effing awful OE bodywork into something more tasteful whilst stil giving a hint of the bike's origins.

Re: THE MIGHTY SIX: A BRUTAL CUSTOM HONDA CBX FROM THE NETHERLANDS
At least this NL version has the good sense to echo the iconic 6 exhausts arranged in a V around the rear wheel a la 250-6 and 297-6 racers of the mid-60s. It's just a shame that the engine is such a behemoth of a thing, but that's something you can't do anything about. Here's what a 'real' Honda 6 should look like:

It's okay, it looks a lot like a CB1000R

Never liked the original CBX because it has too much engine and looks like a mutated CB900F, and I like this ine even less.

The engine is a thing of beauty and should be first thing you see. Not that stupid seat.

Re: THE MIGHTY SIX: A BRUTAL CUSTOM HONDA CBX FROM THE NETHERLANDS
I remember the build up to the release of the CBX and I was genuinely excited by the prospect, as I was (and still am) a massive fan of the RC166 and RC174 race 6 cylinder bikes. But when I actually clapped eyes on the CBX in the flesh and saw how monstrous the engine was, that excitement disappeared to be replaced by a feeling of disappointment. On thinking about it, making a slim six cylinder 250 or 297cc engine was easy - doing the same for a 1000cc six was basically impossible.
The general public, by and large, weren't convinced either. Honda made less than 40,000 CBXs and they were slow sellers.

That could be because the Z1000, GSX, XS1100 were all considerably cheaper at the time. Re: THE MIGHTY SIX: A BRUTAL CUSTOM HONDA CBX FROM THE NETHERLANDS
Yes, the timing of the CBX's release was unfortunate in that respect. I just about managed to pay for a new 350LC costing a bit over a grand in 1980. The CBX was way out of my league, even if I'd wanted one.Sadlonelygit wrote: ↑Sat Feb 24, 2024 5:49 pmThat could be because the Z1000, GSX, XS1100 were all considerably cheaper at the time. Re: THE MIGHTY SIX: A BRUTAL CUSTOM HONDA CBX FROM THE NETHERLANDS
To be fair, the GSX1100, GPz1100 and 350LC are all better bikes than the CBX

When it came out in 1978, it was mind blowing. It was Honda showing what they can doKungFooBob wrote: ↑Sat Feb 24, 2024 7:35 pmOr 6 cylinders.Yorick wrote: ↑Sat Feb 24, 2024 7:31 pmBut none have the kudos.Le_Fromage_Grande wrote: ↑Sat Feb 24, 2024 6:22 pm To be fair, the GSX1100, GPz1100 and 350LC are all better bikes than the CBX
