Just looks silly with that modern tail.

No,no and thrice no. It looks lovely.
Incidentally, have you seen the special based on a Homda 250RS,with an XL500 lump installed? It looks very factory and you being an RS fan in a former life would enjoy it. Homda shoulda made one.

Re: Snap Crackle and Pop
I like it! (No surprises there, then...) If I was being picky I'd have made the exhaust headers less angular and more of an arc and probably raised the back of the bike to improve ground clearance. And not had the seat unit at such a steep angle. I'm not sure why he wanted to extend the tank and subframe by 3 inches - if anything it needs the wheelbase shortening but I guess he had his reasons.
I bet it's a whole heap of fun though.

Looks very odd/wrong. Like taking a modern car and then plonking the cabin of a model T ford in the middle.

Re: Snap Crackle and Pop
Let me lend you my glasses
Honda should have, rather than the lacklustre FT500.
Incidentally, have you seen the special based on a Homda 250RS,with an XL500 lump installed? It looks very factory and you being an RS fan in a former life would enjoy it. Homda shoulda made one.
I was sorely tempt to DIY one myself, I had a spare chassis kicking around after the obligatory top-end self-destruct at 80 or 90k miles but I never got around to it. IIRC I couldn't source a motor only and it seemed a bit daft to buy an XL to rip the motor out.
But I did own an XBR when they came out I'd still like another.

The seat unit makes it look a bit like a cat marking its territory.
The mix of eras looks odd to to me, might as well go the whole way & put a modern tank/side panels/headlight on it.

Horrendous.
I've no real problem with running gear upgrades on these old classics but if you upset the styling too much then I don't really see the point.

Re: Snap Crackle and Pop
Yeah Honda should have made a 500cc single street bike that wasn't the XBR500 or the FT500.

More than a few made it over here, but yes it wasn't an official import.KungFooBob wrote: ↑Mon Feb 19, 2024 8:27 pmBut that was a JDM and Septic only model.mangocrazy wrote: ↑Mon Feb 19, 2024 8:26 pmYou forgot the Brexity GB500 (TT)KungFooBob wrote: ↑Mon Feb 19, 2024 8:02 pm Yeah Honda should have made a 500cc single street bike that wasn't the XBR500 or the FT500.
