Pancake day...
Lets see it then... what you having and when ?
I'll be going for US style fluffy ones for breakfast, Mrs Weeksy and the boy will be having traditional flat jobbies later. Lemon and sugar for them. Banana and syrup for me.

Re: Pancake day...
In a nod to the modern, international world I will perform a Mardi Gras parade through the lounge and eat a chapati with lemon juice (from a plastic lemon obvs) and sugar on.
(Being civilised I will also deny that such a thing as 'fluffy pancakes' exist ).

Waitrose did a Heston Blumenthal branded chocolate Scotch Egg last Easter IIRC. I can't remember what was in it, but I remember it being nice.KungFooBob wrote: ↑Tue Feb 13, 2024 8:18 am Pancakes, pah.

Re: Pancake day...
I kinda had my fill of pancakes when I was in Sweden a lot....

Thursday is pea soup and pancake day, for reasons I never got to the bottom of. Nice, but I can't really say as I shared my colleagues' enthusiasm.

Re: Pancake day...
Here, we call them crepes and we have them whenever we feel like it!
My preferred topping is fresh fruit EG Mango, strawberries and blueberries, maybe a wee bit of whizzy cream if I'm being indulgent.

Re: Pancake day...
FFS. Just have a hot cross bun with a bit of spice and dried fruit.
All this messing about with chocolate, strawberries, chorizo and virgin alpaca's spleen is just unnecessary and will anger the gods.

Re: Pancake day...
Those hot x buns sound very sickly tbh, but pancakes have been my all time favourite for 64 1/2 years. Just sugar and lemon juice (jiff), some fruit maybe, lovely.
I often just have pancakes when I fancy a snack, take minutes to prep, make and eat!!
Every day should be pancake day!

Re: Pancake day...
Did Englandshire also have the chain of restaurants called The Pancake Place? Went out with a lass who was the pancake tosser in the Edinburgh high street one. Always got a free pancake if i went in to meet her at the end of her shift.636mick wrote: ↑Tue Feb 13, 2024 1:08 pm Those hot x buns sound very sickly tbh, but pancakes have been my all time favourite for 64 1/2 years. Doesn’t ring a bell, the only dedicate pancake place that I remember was in Fleet Street in London that my dad took me to once. They wanted to ruin them with chocolate!!

Looks like it may have just been a Scottish thing and it looks like they are still trading. Nowhere near as big as they were in the 90's but nice to know they are still on the go. Facebook only im afraid. https://www.facebook.com/Pancakeplaceuk/?locale=en_GB
