Best tyre for mileage ?

Post by Nobby »

V Strom 650.
I’m doing a fair mileage, and may need to change the rear due to squaring off.
Grip is secondary concern.
So which Tyre for longevity ?
Ta.
Without getting out of my tent and looking, I believe it’s a 150 18.

And no. Not the Speedmaster mk II

Michelin Anakee,

I used several (about 5 but I can’t remember exactly) pairs on my tiger 800xc, and they would usually last between 8 and 10k miles depending on the time of year that they were getting low, in summer I’d run them right down, in winter not so much.

Road based ADV style tyres do tend to last longer than normal road based tyres due to having much deeper tread to give them that ADV look.

So I'd agree with Anakees or Conti Trail Attacks.

I used a Conti Tour on the back of the XJ900F when I was a courier and Conti TK17 (maybe TKV11 or somesuch designation) on the front iirc. It was quite a long time ago mind . . .

Huge mileage out of them and like you usually changed them when they squared off.

Never used them, but a mate, who I rate as a good rider, ditched them off his GS. He needs good mileage, he is a tour guide and does 35+ miles a year, but he didn't get on with the 'Panicky Anakee' at all.
