Was out and about today on the xsr, and coming back to chez d I thought 'oooh, feels a bit fresh', so I thought I'd check the air temp, 0c.
Now if I'd been in a car, the dash would have been flashing ice crystals or wiggly lines and the mirrors would have snow flakes etc.
Is it bike manufacturers don't think we ride in the cold, or that we KNOW it's ferkin freezing so don't have to be told!

Most likely this! Had a conversation with a bike manufacturer bod once, ten years ago or so, who was very excited about how cheap dash software functions were and how they'd chuck any manner of stuff on.

That.
If it drops below 3 degrees whilst I'm driving a get an ice alert ping up in the car, but if was under 3 degrees before I started out it tells me nothing, I assume because some Japanese programmer assumed I'd know it was cold by the walk to the car

Having de-iced the 'shopping trolley', start it up....get 'Drive with care, roads may be icy' message. No! You don't say. Well I never, me oh my.
(Reminds me of the thing about car manuals....they used to tell you how to adjust the tappets, now they tell you not to drink the antifreeze.

).

About 10 mins before setting off to work...press button on the bean to cup delonghi, while it's churning away, pull out phone fire up the car app and start the cabin pre-conditioning.
10 mins later, get in pre-heated car with clear heated windscreen and nice toasty heated steering wheel and seat.
The only message I'm getting at the moment is telling me to book a service sometime soon.

A few years back, Vauxhall had a tv ad stating that one of their cars could be driven in 'impossible conditions' ...

Which people ignore! This morning on the school run it was -4 and turning onto the A414 there'd be an accident with a Beemer on the central reservation facing me and a car further up on the left facing my direction. Presume the Beemer had come onto our side of the road.
On the way back I went the back roads past the farms due to traffic on the A414, I knew this would be icy as there is always water run off from the fields due to the steep hill. Yup, the road was totally white with frost and there was running water/slush as you turned left up the hill. I'm being careful as it's plainly not optimal grip. Passed 2 comes coming the other way doing the usual 45-50 with no loss of speed due to conditions.

The Explorer ST has an ice detection set up with a sensor on the front. This sensor also does other things such as warning of "collision avoidance" if it thinks you're going to hit the car ahead of you.
The entire system shits the bed if the sensor is covered in ice/snowflakes.
The ONLY time the collision warning works is then the guy ahead of you slows to turn off, but having done the mental calculus that tells you that he will be gone by the time you get to the side road he turning onto & you don't need to let off the gas means it's PFU.
As for parky weather... supposed to piss down from Thursday through Tuesday & there's a bike event I want to attend 100 miles away on Sunday. There is snow on the mountains to the North & South

I'm fairly sure my street triple used to give ice warnings if the temperature was below 3.

The ZH2 has a temperature window that goes bright yellow if the temps drop below 3C
