Every night highlights are about 9 or 10 ish UK time (typically 8PM for stage 1 tomorrow )......if you are recording to watch later always record the following programme as well as Eurosport regularly move the timings back if tiddly winks, billiards or french nose coin pushing championship happens to be live and they also flick it between Eurosport 1 and Eurosport 2 which fucks up series link recordings ;)

On the bikes we have Sam Sunderland who will normally either achieve hugely and podium/win or crash out in a massive accident as he doesnt seem to do low finishes

if you want up to date/live timing stuff its all here https://www.dakar.com/en/

New idea for this year proved brutal for a lot of the top peeps in all classes .

600km special stage over 2 days, set off and get as far as you can by 4pm then pitch up at the nearest of 6 designated sleep points. Get given rations, tent, sleeping bag and get some kip after fixing what you can as no spares, no teams and no mechanics for the factory teams. Following day complete whats left of the 600km

Oh and did i say its all on massive sand dunes in an area known as the "Empty Quarter" ......fucking epic and right back to the original Dakar spirit of kipping out and cracking on.

Lots of the top bike guys loved it as they set off the earliest so the top elite riders knocked out almost 520 kms on day one so had a short day 2. The cars got to mid to 3/4 points and the trucks got about halfway. Some of the privateer bikes are going to be exhausted and the top Brit on bikes is Jane Daniels who had a huge off on day 1 of the specail but spent 2 hours kicking the bike straightish then got back on  :o

Great idea and stages, really sorted out the 'men (or women ;) ) from the boys' and how it's a massive battle against the course. Proper Dakar.

Jane Daniels, think she's from Wigan? On the bikes, doing well, hope I haven't cursed her!!!
