Random crap that I've learnt/discovered today....
The Citroen 2CV Sahara
Looks like a normal 2CV, but they had an extra engine in the boot, they could run front wheel drive, rear wheel drive or four wheel drive.
They're so rare that if you want one today you'll be needing at least £70k!

iirc they (Brabus) made a twin engined Smart Roadster too.

I was reading about that on the wiki page, it was so it could get into tight spaces and not need to turn around, not sure they couldn't just use reverse.. like French Tanks.

My old man rebuilt one for my sister as her first car, albeit a 2CV6.

There was a twin-engined Mini too (or several). (Apparantly almost impossible to drive because they couldn't get the throttles to synch very well - it was always either pulling from the front, or pushing from the rear which made the handling very odd).

I remember watching an episode of Shit Heap Challenge where they made a twin engined car... it was mentioned that they're not road legal in the UK, dunno if it's true, suppose I should google it.

Apparently it came about because the fire chief had to reverse, in the dark, several km (and guided by a guy on foot, with a torch).
The Cogolin worked on one engine (and set of controls at a time) at a time.

A fortnight of ownership should be enough to persuade you otherwise. Although in your relatively vehicle free environment perhaps not.

Had a brand spanking new chassis and everything. He reckoned it was the only thing he'd worked on that used M7 bolts.
VW Beetles used them too. IIRC, mine had some of the bodywork attached with 'em.

Mercedes F1 use MJ7 bolts. M7 is too common it would seem.

From what I can gather, twin engines are road legal in the UK if they drive the same axle.

They laws may have changed, most of the stuff I was reading was conjecture on various custom car forums, I couldn't find the official government guidance.
Maybe with the advent of leccy cars they've had to change the law?
