Travellers and the like....

I have a bad feeling....I have someone coming up to look at the BSA in the morning...the 441 Victor I cant start...went in the garage and the bugger has split the seams on the tank...not a problem...Indian tanks in alloy are £180 +£70 p&p....and its the first step to making it a B50T lookalike (around £6k) and the guy is still coming...but he sounds very Irish, and I feel it in me old bones that he is a diddecoy.....in which case I will not sell it to him as he will be back in a day or two asking for a refund with threats....in fairness I am a wimp....bad feeling as I said....
Yes, I am probably racist, but I have had dealings and I hate the fuggers.

I had my old Transit up for sale on Gumtree a few years back.
I had a couple of calls from fellas with strong irish accents. I told them it had already sold.
I was 100% sure they were travellers and not worth the risk, however I wouldn't have thought they'd be that interested in an old beezer.
I did sell a bike to a Southern Irish chap who was a trader who bought all his 2nd hand stock in the UK to re-plate as they were cheaper than Irish bikes.

It’s a tough one, seeing as I have family that are bogtrotters... but I understand why you wouldn’t want to sell to a did’.
How will you know though.... “excuse me Mister... are you a didicoy?”

Good luck. It could go one of several ways , or a combination of all of them.

Just make sure that leaky tank doesn't drip petrol onto your newly-resurfaced drive

Oddly enough I had a very good experience with some travellers, in the old house. I accepted an offer to turn the front garden into a brick paved off-street parking area. Torque Wench was convinced I had lost my mind. But I liked the guy, and had a good feeling. I was glad I went with instinct. I watched them do it, and it looked good to me. They went quite deep, and then filled with compacted hardcore, followed by aggregate starting coarse, and then finer, and topped off by sand, all compacted with one of those thumper machines. They installed run-offs for water on three sides, with everything sloping the right way so there could be no puddles.
it looked lovely, but Torque Wench was convinced it wouldn't last. That was about 17 years ago. I was driving past a few weeks ago, and stoppe for a gander. It's still there, and still looks lovely.

Likewise..when we moved in a relative gave a high ( friends and family ) quote to block pave the front of my house. A passing traveller offered my wife a quote so she told him to come back when I was home ...not only was it a grand cheaper than friends and family, they started within a week and were finished in 3 days. 6 yrs later it still flat and even . He also did a concrete parking space for my daughter which was also spot on .
