Re: Snow
I know it's a different mindset here (and set up/equipment/planning), but I do smile when I hear how everything stops in the uk and there's so much drama!! And I remember it too!!
Usually the only people that get stuck here are tourists that think they can drive up on normal tyres or locals that are trying to save (probably) less then 10€ by not changing to winters tyres early enough!!
There is occasionally a bit of excitement when a truck goes off the road, but cars are normal (drink driving usually the bigger reason than lack of correct tyres when it's a local car).
I think we had about 6 inches of snow Friday night and Saturday morning I drove down to the valley at just after 7am and the roads had all been cleared and were totally driveable (with winter tyres!!)

Re: Snow
Dry and 5° here. Been much the same all week with spells of blue sky and sunshine.
There were flakes of snow falling yesterday when we were out walking, but nothing lying.

Re: Snow
We had about an inch on Thursday, it hung round until last night, now it's all washed away by the rain

Re: Snow
Mandatory requirement for snow tyres will do that for ya.

Re: Snow
Only about an inch, local Facebook group blew up as expected but wife went out to care for her mother and daughter went out to work as normal.
S'all been washed away by the rain now.

Re: Snow
We had a couple of inches fall overnight, but it's quietly melting away now. I really don't get the mindset of people who know that snow is forecast and know that it will be deeper the higher you go, and then blithely decide to drive over Shap Fell. Back in the 70s/80s when people actually had a clue how to drive in snow (and the sense not to when it was too bad) I don't recall this collective lemming mentality taking hold.

It's the raging self entitlement which fails to comprehend there may be anything at all to stop one doing whatever was planned. It's so unfair.mangocrazy wrote: ↑Sun Dec 03, 2023 2:19 pm We had a couple of inches fall overnight, but it's quietly melting away now. Re: Snow
No and if we never get snow again, i'll be more than happy with that. Snow is for ski resorts and Xmas card pictures and has no business being anywhere near the kingdom of Taipan!

Managed a snowball fight in the morning before the drizzle came and turned everything slushy.

Re: Snow
Or one person crawls around and the rest are stuck behind. Never used snow chains and never had winter tyres and never been stuck in snow. Folk should just learn how to drive properly.
