WSBK Jerez

Post by Skub »

The first race settled down into a yawn, but the sprint and race 2 more than made up for it. Two classics right there.

Second race was incredible, don’t get me started on the shitty ruling and I’d have been embarrassed to celebrate like that both team and rider when they were gifted it.

Shite way to end a ridiculously awesome race especially when you’ve got a guy riding the absolute cunt off of that machine when it’s clearly not as good as the other bike.

It's prime example of 'rules are rules' mentality. Toprak gained no advantage, even though he technically offended. A prime example of rules getting in the way of racing, rather than being there to help. There can't be one person alive who doesn't think Toprak deserved to win.

Watching the footage its clear the rear wheel started to spin up as it hit the kerb which kicked the back end out a bit and thats why it barely touched on the green paint........ horrendous way to lose one of the best races of the season

Ya can't have vague rules. He broke the rule or didn't. He did.

His team would have complained if he'd been beaten by Bautista if he'd just touched the line a little bit.

The green paint has replaced grass. He'd have crashed if he'd hit grass at that speed.

I know the rules are rules but it was a slide of the bike. If it didnt slide then he wouldnt have touched the green. I am not disputing the rules but its a shit way to lose a win you really fought for and deserved

I really really Toprak to win it as he is riding the fucking wheels off that bike just to try and make back the advantage that Bautista has on all the straight bits. He rode his arse off in all races in Portugal to be beaten every time by a mirror, signal, blast past in a straight line on the last corner

Imagine Rangers Vs Celtic in Cup final.

Rangers leading. Celtic equalise in last minute.

VAR shows Celtic player offside by half an inch.

Bet you wouldn't say that was unfair ;)

Rules are seen differently depending how it affects you ;)

It shouldn’t be a simple case of did he touch it or not, it should be the circumstances surrounding it, it should be looked at in such a way where you make a decision based on whether or not an advantage was gained or not, which there was no advantage gained and when you factor in the fact he rode the absolute arse off the bike for 20 laps against a bike that’s a flying machine to have it then taken away from you on the last lap exit of final corner is absolute bullshit.

Just seen this pic. Can't see what the problem is.

The green bit wasn't just put there on the last lap. They know it's there. They know the rules.
The riders have a 5' wide rumble strip to warn them of the green bits.

Toprak could have stayed on the track. Yeah. The grey bit. But he chose to take a chance. It failed.

His whole tyre was over.

The green part has sensors to detect this sort of thing.

Some races there are dozens of infringements. They can't scrutinise all of them. So guilty is guilty.

It's hard to argue a case for the defence really. As said, they're the rules.. If in tennis it touches the line, it's in.... If the ball crosses the line in football it's out (or in if it's a goal), if a tyre moves before the lights, it's a jump-start.. that's kinda how the world works now, it's not just a 'maybe' it's black and white... It's simple, if it's on the green, it's on the green. Is it fair... well, i guess that depends which rider you prefer

No they don’t, they don’t work well at all, they are stupid analogies. We know the rules, we just don’t agree with them, and we don’t agree with the fact that they don’t look at in a more sensible common sense way like we have said above.

And it doesn’t matter what rider you prefer, it’s a rule that many have disagreed with or not liked the fact that they don’t look at it in such a way that works out whether an advantage was had or not. If it were any other rider I’d be saying the same.

We ?

So what are you proposing ? Because Toprak had worked really hard and this was his only mistake he should not be penalised ?

Are you mental? We’re not even disputing the fact that he touched the green, you’re initial reply with the pic is as if we’re saying he shouldn’t have been penalised because he didn’t touch the green, we know he touched the green we are simply saying we don’t agree with the way in which the ruling is applied without any other thought given to advantage gained etc, I mean is that not simple enough for you to understand? 🤦‍♂️

Yes, it's not simple enough... The ruling is... He crossed the track boundary... Advantage has nothing to do with it. The rules are not open to debate, they're just, well, rules.

That said... we're not going to agree here, so i'm not going to bother trying :)

Enjoy the rest of your day.

Rules should always enhance a sport. It shouldn't always be a case of blindly being right or wrong, black or white. There are times when consideration and judgement are necessary.

If this particular rule was changed from 'if you touch the paint on the last lap you get a penalty',to 'if you touch the paint on the last lap and gain a clear advantage you'll get a penalty'.Then the alteration would work with the entertainment spectacle and not interfere with the passion which gave us a great race.

Nah. this crap has come up a lot in F1 this year too, dead easy to solve with absolutely no room for confusion / interpretation or anything.
Just bring back grass or bring the gravel run offs right to the edge of the kerb or make the kerbs super aggressive , they'll soon learn to keep off
